Its funny that people that is not directly in coal can really believe that they are not supported by our coal dollars. I was on facebook the other night and noticed some people in our community that is really supporting Obama well, i guess the restaurant that they work at does not need my coal dollars that is a disgrace.

Whoever supports Obama and his anti coal agenda are pretty much worthless in my eyes. So many people depend on coal for heat and power not to mention the multitude of jobs that it brings. It's a shame what Alpha has been doing to it's many workers and even in Russia the company is leaving to go start mines in Asia and China. Places like here that depend on coal and the revenue are going to start hurting really bad. Matewan was a booming town and now it's pretty much a ghost town and well Phelps and other surrounding areas are now not too far behind.

The thing about coal is it has always been like a rollercoaster with the ups and downs but you are just kidding yourself if you do not think that the obama administration with the epa has an influence on the permitting process and the bad thing is you have people in our community that is so blinded that they really believe that he is not part of the problem for the coal industry i am not saying all but alot. Then you have people from the coal area supporting him, gosh how stupid can you be.

I dont know why you get on here and act like you know everything. How would you know anything about Matewan? I thought you was from Ohio. Yes, Matewan was a booming town at once but it was years ago and im sorry but you would know nothing about that or anything about the coal business. Hey i got an ideal why dont you get a job in the coal industry and then get on here and tell us coal people all about it. I know you dont like to work just live off these hard working coal miners. Im sure you want them to keep their jobs so they can keep supporting you and your family.

I swear you people are just so damn stupid one does not have to work in the coal industry to know what kind of problems getting rid of it is going to cause. You must be an Obama supporter nuff said. Why do you trolls care what he says on here? Just the same ol song and dance. you think he acts like he knows everything but yet you just did the same by assuming that coal is supporting his family let me assure you it is not and I know that for a fact so go ahead keep talking you will eat your own words one day sooner then you think people like you always do. He is not talking about you(and you should be happy for that) so why do you feel the need to talk about him? You must be bored again and have nothing better to do but count down the days until it marks two weeks gone by then you go oh it's time to start again. You come on here and run your mouth about people acting like they know it all but admit that he was right? You still don't realize you sound stupid do you? Pathetic waste of air you are. Guess what we have all seen this episode before and it is boring.

Oh so you are a miner huh? I thought a miner had to be educated and have some sort of smarts oh well not my problem to worry about. I bet that have you doing something simple right? Like shoveling the belt line because you are not qualified or have the brain capacity to do anything else. Why won't you admit I was right when I was? Have a comprehension crutch? Last thing is how would you even know what my mother would sound like? So let me get this straight okay.

1)You come on here talking trash using a made up screen name
2)You act like you know so much about me and apparently my mother
3)You are still too much of a coward to put your real name
4)Do you even really know any of us personally?
5)Why can't you be man enough to say something to my face?
6)Did you mommy and daddy raise a boy who grew up to be a scared little girl on the inside?

Please answer! Don't be shy......:D

they tried running a coal base power planet off of natural gas. it didn't work the natural gas couldn't heat the coils hot enough to run the plant properly. right now natural gas is cheaper but it is being talked about sellng our natural gas over seas and if that happens guess what. natural gas goes higher. alot higher. i just watched this natural gas topic on msnbc and cnn about 3 weeks ago.

First off, I am an Obama supporter and the proud daughter of a Union coal miner who lost his life over 20 yrs ago. He was a republican most of his life, but when Reagan began to bust the unions, he changed parties. Coal has always been an up and down business. The booms of the 70's and 80's were followed by layoffs and bad times, and of course every president who ever sat in office was blamed for every layoff or regulation. The fact is that regulations are there to protect the workers and the environment.

Coal will rebound again, but people please stop with the hate of anyone that votes for Obama. He has not done anything more to hurt coal than any other president. In fact, after his first two years in office, there were more working coal miners than at any time in the whole 8 years Bush was president. Check your facts before you vote. If you think Romney is for the miner, you are wrong. He is the most anti-union candidate ever to run. He is for the company until the bitter end. And when you do get laid off, he will make it harder to get unemployment and easier for the company to screw you over.

The best thing miners in KY can do is re-organize and revive the UMWA. Strong contracts keep workers' jobs safe in tough times.

CMdau- I hate to say this but you do not have a clue how could you make a statment that they are more miners working now than while Bush was our president. And yes the regulations that our so called president has passed to regulate the coal industry has hurt the coal business but he went as far as to tell the people that he would bankrupt the coal industry and some of the people in this still supported him. You also want to talk about the union face it the union is gone while you sit in your nice cozy house we are suppose to sit back and like what Obama has done for us well no thanks and until you lace a pair of work boots up and work in the coal industry then find some other bulletin board to post on Obama is a joke.

I have every right to post in this forum. I lost a father and grandfather, and more family that I care to count in the mines. I packed my Dad's bucket every day and watched him go underground and come out on a stretcher, from a union mine. He loved being a coal miner and I grew up without him because of it. Don't give me the "lace up your boots" BS. I have worked in the coal industry. In fact, my Mom did too. I have paid a price, just as all other widows and orphans of coal miners have. You could't do what you do without a family to support you either, and when you get sick from black lung or god forbid have an accident, who will be taking care of you? Your family. I was fortunate to get a great education and make a life outside of the mountains, and I understand that some people don't have that choice. Do your research before you judge me or my posts. I base my opinion on facts, not crap fed to me by politicians. Trust me, I have more than a clue.
http://www.csmonitor.com/Environment/2012/092...
Also, some facts for you:
Total number of miners employed in the US in 2000: 71,522. In 2006: 82,595. In 2011: 83,420.
Like I said, the coal business goes up and down in cycles, just like every other industry. It will come back and I hope it does. My friends and family depend on it. But I don't want them to have a false impression of why there are layoffs right now.

Well, there's something we can agree on. There are definitely some people you just can't reach. It sure didn't take long for you to start with the Muslim crap. Coal Miner, I wish you and all miners out there the best and I pray for every miner's safety.
