Michael, I do not mean any offense by my previous post in any way, by mentioning that odd things happen in the house. There is a very odd energy there, though that I wanted to mention. I am praying that your father finds comfort finally, and that he is reunited with the rest of his family in paradise.

Beth Suttie was not one of those murdered in the multi-family murder that everyone is talking about.

Beths murder was a few years later. Although many people believe that she was murdered by her boyfriend/husband (?) at the time it has not been solved...unfortunately.

Wow, I really opened up some old wounds. Sorry about that. And what's worse, the "incident" to which I was referring was NOT the Abt Family murders, although that event sounds horrendous and catastrophic to a great array of people as well. The event to which I was referring was the murder of a girl named Beth Suttie, with whom I graduated high school in 1967. She was either married to or engaged to Mark Clark (mentioned in one of the responses above) and "some" of the stories I heard informally linked him to the murders, yet others dismissed that train of thought, so I don't want to impune anyone's integrity or slander somebody's innocense. I am just very curious about that event, since we were very close as kids, and have found little written on it.
My family was very close to Beth as well. If you respond to this, I would be happy to help you learn more.

As I said though, the murder, although a lot of people thought it was Mark Clark, has not been solved. I did hear rumors that they were bringing the case back to life about 3 years ago. New evidence had come up or something.

Happened March 12th, 1976, my mom lived next door. I grew up with the older boys Cliff and Michael. Neither Cliff or Michael were at home at the time of the murders. Michael had tried to reach the family by telephone and was unable. When he came home he stopped a cop who lived down the street and told him that all the cars were home but no one answered the phone. The neighbor (Officer) went into the house a found the family Mr & Mrs Abt, Margie, John, Kathy Margie's boyfriend (who's name draws a blank at this moment) and Heidi the family St. Bernard.

I think you're talking about the Abt Family murders. It happened around 1974, I think, in Bensalem, Pa.(it might be the Trevose section of Bensalem) A neighbor was in love with one of the sisters, but she had a boyfriend. One day, he broke in their house, and, one by one, as each family member came home, he shot them. The only one to survive was a son, Michael, because he didn't come home.
The local paper is Bucks County Courier Times. The only reason I remember is because I was in fourth grade at the time, and went to school with one of the daughters, Kathy. I lived in Bensalem most of my life, and that's the only multi-murder that I can remember, or even any stories of one. Hope it's a help.

So I' ve researched these tragic and horrific events and I agree and disagree with many of the posts. To me this seems like something out of a novel. In regards to those who commented on the house being haunted/activity; this may lead to interest to those who are fascinated with ghosts, and hauntings... specifically paranormal investigators. You would not believe how many there are right here in Bucks its crazy. This is a piece of local history that many have never heard of until today such as myself but I too have lived through tough times... good friend was murder and I myself was stalked for 2 years until police finally came to a conclusion... My prayers go out to the families and friends to those affected by these horrible events and those that have lived and continue to live through it thanks>>>>>

I never knew mike but, cliff was a good friend of mine and my wife. Yes, he had a drug problem, but if you really knew him close, he was a kind and caring person. no one deserves to have their parents, sister, sister's fiance, gary, and their family dog murdered. yes, their saint bernard too. I talked to cliff months after it happened, and he was never the same. I think it was about 5 years later, he died from a drug overdose.so sad.

I grew up 5 minutes from where this took place and never heard a thing about it until tonight. Drove by the home with my Mom and she mentioned whose house it was. I never heard of them. She told me the whole story. My father (Paul) and his family grew up around the corner and my mother (Regina)also became friends with Cliff and Mike. I was sick when I heard what had happened. I decided to look it up. I do not think you can justify Mike and Cliff's actions as children and maybe even as adults, but no one ever deserves to be killed. Its pretty ironic that he was bullied by Mike and Cliff through out life, but took it out on their innocent family. My mom told me that Mike is still living with Cancer. I will pray for him, and his family. To his son...I see you said you tried to put yourself in his shoes and still were mad, but please try to forgive him. I know I don't know what you went through in life, but I hope you can forgive him and have peace with him. By now maybe you already have. Peace and Blessings to you and your family.

i am winns sister. my parents did tell me about the abt murders when i was younger. i remember being shocked then but now as an adult and understand it better it makes me sick still. we have no proof the person who did this was acting on revenge for being bullied, and even if he was its absurd to say they deserved it. Its sad taht adults would judge someone especially a child for things they did in their past. we all live in glass houses. innocent people do not deserve to be murdered....and note i said innocent people not perfect people, cliff and mike may not have been perfect but they were innocent and their family members were innocent too. and to say because he was a perfect member of society after what happened to his family he deserved it is just ignorant...losing your entire family is extremely mentally damaging to anyone..i dont blame him for not knowing how to cope wiht that as you say. ill keep mike abt in my prayers.

I remember it well I drove 400 miles in the first week of March 76 to be interviewed for a police officer postion in a place I never heard of before, Bensalem. The next week the local paper in my town had my interviewer, Chief Larry Michaels on the front page describing the crime scene. I retired a few years ago from that Dept, alson haveing my own personal contact with the Abt sons.

Linda, I covered the Abt murders for the paper back then. Do you know whatever happened to Michael and Clifford? Who lives in their house now, and who lives in the Geschwendt house? Do you still live in Trevose? What street was that? I live in Delaware now.

I just found out my dad has colon / throat cancer and he wont be around much longer. He has had a long hard life, and will soon be with his family.
For those who say he deserved it, how can you justify killing innnocent people? really?
Him and my uncle cliff were bullies, got it. So every childish bully deserves to be Killed? is that what you are saying? George comitted a mass murder that effected so many peoples lives and hes not dead?
I am not saying by any means that my dad and uncle cliff were right in anything they did. Nor was it right that i had to grow up without a father, nor was it right that my mom had to struggle to raise 2 kids on her own. I spent my whole life madd at him for not being there for me, and i sit and try to put myself in his shoes and i dont think i could have lived my life after going through something like that, but i was still mad.
Last week we found out my dad has colon and throat cancer and probably wont be around much longer. Now the only person im mad at is myself for wasting so much time being mad at him instead of try to help him.
Weither you feel for him or not, no one deserves to have their loved ones taken from them. No matter how good or bad of a person they may be. Until you walk a day in someones shoes, you cant judge them.
this goes for everyone. In this situation, Mike, Cliff, George... non of us know what goes through their head that makes them tick.
Dont ever take anyone for granted.
Mike, I knew your dad and your uncle back then, covered their story for the local paper, wrote a lot about both of them and what they were going through. Do they still live in Trevose? Who lives at your granddad's house now? Is your Uncle Cliff still in Pa.? Kathy

As I said, My mother was a close friend of Beth Sutties....This response thread seems to have gone of track about another murder. I was a newborn when this happened but was verifying that Beth was in fact murdered an unfortunately, to this day, there still has not been resolution as to who murdered her.

I wish people responding about the "Abt family murders" would do so on another thread as that is not the case that was brought up originally.
