Been meaning to comment... Charlies Pub is a local's hole in the wall kind of place and nice for strong drinks and lingering cigarette smoke. Kinda surly, kinda friendly, small and located under an old gas station.
The bar at the Quality Inn near Dairy Queen is decent but pretty typical. Also a local hangout.
Diogis has a nice bar and tasty (slightly overpriced) Mexican food.
Pies N Pints downtown is a great place to grab a table and relax with friends. Usually crowded with out of towners and also overpriced, but great selection (locally brewed beer!).
If you want to make the trip, Cheti's at the Class VI compound is different and cosy but out of the way. Kinda not worth it until summertime IMHO.
These are the main ones. All is just my opinion. Hope this helps and welcome (back?) to Fayetteville!

There used to be a cool resteraunt downtown called the Vandalian but it closed recently. They had a beautiful place and very nice sitting downtown, drinking a beer while watching our little town wind down in the evening. Lots of people didn't like the menu and prices but it was a great setting... I'm bored.

You can drive to Bradley about 15 minutes south on Route 19 and go to Southern X. There you can grab an over-priced beer and look at some of southern West Virginia's finest (naked trailer trash). If you have some scooby snacks or a satchel of cocaine, or lots of money...you can probably even get lucky there.

There are no friendly bears in WV that I know of. When I was a youngster, my Gram Pa told me that there was a black bear used to come in his back yard when he was a kid but the dogs chased it away. A Lot of the people say there are some leopards in WV but I don't know if they are friendly. Better stick to the bears, cats are more dangerous.

Steve, if you were coming in April, you could go to the Red Dog Saloon. Without a doubt, it's this areas nicest night club for drinks and dancing. Also I believe it's smoke free unlike Charlies and all the other places around here.

Owls Club is probably the WORST place in the nation to go. Only people that go there are the ones that like to swap STDs or young men that try to hook up with 60 year old pill heads. Stay away..
