Why do the water fountains at FHS look as dirty as they do? How old are they & why can't we get new ones for our kids, they won't even drink from them, nor would I.
I agree

I saw the same thing the other day. They look very old, and usually have a pile of snuff spit in them. Who would drink from that? Definately have my vote in needing new ones for our kids.

I agree that something should be done about this. However I believe that the number one priority should be eliminating the bullying that goes on in schools. I think there should be a no tolerance policy. There should be no warnings given, it should be immediate suspension. It will never be solved unless drastic action is took.

Yes bullying should not be tolerated under any circumstance, but like I told my children, If you take it once & don't stop it, it will continue. It needs to be reported immediately if they feel its something too intimidating to handle. My kids were always taught to demand respect, you should get what you give, & they do.
As far as the water fountains go, the FCBOE should hang their head in shame!

They don't care because they don't have to drink from them.

Yeah I went to take my kid medicine one day & had to go buy a water because there was no way I'd make my kid drink from that! It was beyond grose from the floor up! Snuff was all over the spicit too. As much as my husband & I pay in taxes a year it seems they could purchase new water fountains for our children. I agree their heads should hang in shame at the board, state where ever! Shame, shame, shame!

My son said the apples were full of worms. I guess it comes from buying from small local farmer wantabes who dont use pesticides or anything else to kill insects and larva. Anything to save a dollar and pretend your doing something. FCBOE has been taken over by the state and problems just keep getting worse.

The state superintendent was fired this week. Not that it means things in our schools will improve any.

Some of the schools got new toilets, I guess that was more important than fountains, maybe in the coming years they'll get them. I've been wondering about the recycling dumpsters the schools had, now new river and Collins are the only ones that have them, used to be all of them, I know taxpayers pay for it so where is the money going to?

The money seems to be going everywhere BUT our schools. The buildings are falling apart, the books & computers are outdated, & the teachers are getting worse every year. No wonder Fayette county was ranked Last in the state in student achievement.

I'm sure he does. Dwight Dials was sent from the state to fix up Mongo county schools as well. They're sure as hell not any better off, & neither is Fayette county. I don't know how much worse these schools can get. Is there a point where the federal govt will step in to keep out U.S. children from being taught in 3rd world class schools?

Dials isn't over Fayette County any more. There was a new guy put in at the end of last school year. If you paid attention to what is going on in the county you would know that.

Fayette county chose sports over infrastructure. Maybe if the kids had a nice new school to attend, they might actually think education is important. Folks can blame the School Board, but it starts at home. What have YOU done to improve education in Fayette County today?
