I personally do not believe they will ever work together. Not as long as the Good Ole Boys continue to attack our Mayor just because she is a woman!!! The 4 Alderman on the board that are stiring up all the drama along with our city admin HAVE TO GO!!! We are in for a long haul with this bunch not to mention an expensive one. If you want to know more about Mr. Lee google him. See how he was investigated by the state for his spending while city admin in his last job.

WOW!I MUST NOT BE SEEING THE SAME MEETINGS YOU ARE SEEING...IN MY VIEW THE MAYOR HAS PROVOKED THE SITUATION UNECESSARILY BY HER UNPROFESSIONAL AND INFLAMMATORY HANDLING OF THE MEETINGS.

It's obvious she has her own fan club and is trying every way possible to make the aldermen who disagree with her look and sound as bad as possible to the public. When she doesn't get her way about anything, she rants and raves and goes to extremes and its sickening. The live broadcasts with open mikes prove how she really is when she thinks nobody can hear what's going on. I just hope the majority of Fayetteville citizens can see through all of her garbage and vote her out next year....Maybe then we'll get a REAL mayor and not a DRAMA QUEEN!!!

The last time I checked, Pat Fraley was not a "Good Ole Boy". She's a woman who votes her mind on what's best for the City of Fayetteville and its citizens. Lately she's been voting against the mayor's wishes. Your argument is not valid!

I absolutely agree. She's trying to buck the good ole boy system. We need to elect more people who will work for what's best for the people of this town and not the business owners. We need a Lowes or Home Depot. Fay. Pro lumber and especially pedergrass need serious competition as does Wal Mart. The tax payers will continue to be the losers as long as the current system is not fixed by our demand for better! We also need affordable high speed internet options.

i hate to tell you all, but the majority of the fayettevilleans AGREE with ms. shelton, ms. small, and mr stewart! ms. fraley is dominant enough to be a 'good ole boy'.
if this town continues to be run by a few people who think that are elitists, there will be nothing left here except a buntch of cemetaries. you all think you're high on the totum pole because you've gotten an education up at the 'big' UT knoxville, etc. but i'll tell you, i was born right here in lincoln regional hospital and educated in a western state, and it makes me no better than someone who chose to stay here and work at goodman, frito-lay, or in huntsville (since about 60% of the working population actually works outside of lincoln co. and the fact that lincoln co. has the lowest unemployment rate of all 95 counties, MEANS NOTHING!).
you are high on totum pole that happens to be a very short stick!!

I seriously doubt that most Fayetteville residents agree with ms. shelton, ms. small, and mr stewart, at least none that I have spoken with. It's obvious from the time the job interviews started with the board looking for a new city administrator, that she wanted to do his job as a full time mayor. What makes her think she was even qualified?? Her demeanor as mayor goes beyond being embarrassing. She will do or say anything as a means of getting her way and when things don't go as she wants, she panders to the audience and then things really get ridiculous!

I also take offense to your "UT educated high on the totum people" comments. I'm just an average JOE who wants what is best for our town, and yes, I'm disappointed with the way that many things have been done in past years, but I think this election will show how "fed up" the citizens of Fayetteville are with ms. shelton and her antics and her 2 "yes men"!!!!

i guess i just respectfully disagree with you. from my point of view, ms. shelton is not trying to do the city admin's job, she is just concerned with how he was hired. there was no reason to give him an over $300,000 tenor package after only being there a short amount of time. considering how much he was investigated for the misuse of city fund's in the town he was last a city admin, there was/is much concern. and this process has already began as he gave a pay hike without the board's approval.

and it's ironic that you bring up ms. shelton trying to do lee's job because it seems as though bryant likes to think of him as the true mayor and always tries over-talk ms. shelton as just a "silly" woman. and obviously, pepper would be his vice-mayor! lol. bryant has a the attitude that women "should know their place." for which i ALSO do believe the elections will be will show how fayettevilleans are fed up also - with "good ole boy" attitude. it would be a thing if bryant and pepper took themselves down a few notches.

in whatever it is you believe, you can always find people around you that agree with your opinion. people tend to attract others who agree with their issues. with that said - everyone i speak to praises ms. shelton, and her two "yes men." this would also apply to you and your opinion.

there are many young people that believe the "good ole boys" is going to leave our town with nothing. with your generation creating this bedroom community where people only sleep here, yet those who do work must go out of town to do so, will leave this town in the dust. at least ms. shelton is trying to work to bring this town into the 20th century; and yes, i know it's the 21 century!:)

The mayor and alderman meetings that are broadcast on tv are terrible. The immaturity of our mayor is a joke. My teenager acts more mature. She can not control her out burst. At what time is ok to sling items, throw your glasses, point fingers. I am woman, a liberal one at that, but she has zero knowledge on how to conduct business.

Did he get a 300,000.00 tenure package? A small city of 7,000 people offering a 300K tenure package? OMGosh

You are correct, everyone wants to spread their opinions , but to the wrong people. I have seen churches split just because they saw fit to go around gossiping to everyone instead of going to the right one. Whether it be the elders or the person his or herself!!! Right...I know we are all GOD'S children, but that does not mean we have to act like one!!

YES HE DID! you should have seen that board meeting! when it comes to issues "the board hasn't got a chance to look at and discuss" at a work session, they say, "well i'm not prepared to make a decision. we need further discussion and a work session. but the city admin's contract was just made a motion, just matter-a-factly and voted on immediately. but since there were 4 yeas, they drove it on through.

it's crazy! 7000 people, like you said in fayetteville, and the city of brentwood's city admin doesn't even get paid that much!! and he had only been there 6 months when they offered him the contract! it's funny how we can spend it on him, yet not have adequate sidewalks and crosswalks for pedestrians to walk along our streets safely from one side of town to another!!!

I just called Mike Walker the City Administrator in Brentwood TN. I ask him what his salary is per year, he gladly told me, it is public knoweledge.I would and should tell you, but I'm not. What I will tell you is that he is the highest paid Administrator in the State of Tennessee. Germantown 2nd,Franklin 3rd in salaries. I called Fayetteville's City administrator and ask him what his salary was he also told me. I did not ask about any of there benefits. To say that Fayetteville's Administrator makes more than Brentwwod is a joke and untruthful, come on get it right!!! You must be related to Fayetteville"s Mayor... This is not my first rodeo in reading comments from people that needs to get a life and hobby... IN HIM..Peace

while i did mistake and say MORE, i should have NEARLY the city admin's salary of brentwood. what you fail to leave out, so CONVENIENTLY, is that brentwood's population is 5 TIMES that of the city of fayetteville. i believe the city of fayetteville city admin makes somewhere around 74,000/yr (which ends up being 100,000 with benefits because of the car the city provides, etc.) as i remember from the meeting. if brentwood makes 100,000/yr (for instance), how does 5x the population only justify a 26,000 difference?

and it's language like what you just quoted as to what is going to be MOVING out of this town with the end of the baby boomers. from you language, i bet you talk down to everyone in your family.

and here we go with pulling the God card again. my God says that he loves ALL people, not those who happen to be this or that! there is also a thing called separation of church and state. whether you can saying that i need God in my life or ms shelton, you are very out of line and you know it!! only God and a person knows their relationship, and you just need to be worrying about yourself.

and tell me, it says your city is nashville. shouldn't you be more worried about them tearing everything in downtown to only cater to those with money? if you don't own property in the city of fayetteville, it might be a good thing to keep you opinions to yourself.

just watched latest meeting....i am primarily disgusted with the comments of the husband/wife team who were confrontational with ms fraley....
my question to them would be do you want someone representing the city who has NO INTEREST in the matters they represent??
ms fraleys concerns with the historical commission was the negative effect upon all those within the areas not just her office....any buffoon can see that is obvious!!!!

First let me say I am not a Fayetteville lifer. I have only lived here for a few years. I moved here from Williamson County. I am amazed at the inability of those in this community to see any farther than Lincoln County. Wake up people it is NOT 1960 anymore and the future is now. We must move forward and I beleive Mayor Shelton is trying her best to do this. As for Ms Fraley she comes across as a snake and I wouldnt trust her for a minute. Maybe she is against the area being zoned Historical due to the impact it would have on her property. From what I understand it is more difficult to sell a Historic bldg and would in many cases hurt the value of such bldg. Mr.Bryant is a joke as is Mr. Pepper. They both seem to talk alot yet never say anthing. It is hard to adjust to such an unprofessional community and personally I look forward to relocating out of here as soon as possible. I know we are in the South but must we continue with the Southern Good Ole Boy way of life? Remember how that mentality worked out for us in the past. This is why we are still considered less intelligant and back woods to other parts (including North TN) of the state and country.

How would it be a negative effect? Let us not forget Ms. Fraley is an attorney first and foremost. Tell me how many attorneys do YOU trust? I beleive she did indeed have some part of the writing the petition. Listen again to the wording of it.. it was written by an attorney.. and I hope the husband and wife team can prove that. If Ms. Fraley indeed did draft it or have ANY part of drafting it she has to go. This would be an abusive of power and due to the fact she does own property that would be effected she should abstain from all votes regarding the matter! Plain and simple = conflict of interest.

Wow! Sounds like someone has a little since! Glad to hear you say that! Anything that is voted on that would affect an Alderman pocket, the Alderman should Abstain from voting - much less anything else. Just as Mr. Bryant abstained in the last meeting because of previous dealings with the matter of the vote (can't remember what it was right at this second.)
