C'mon people, I already have some stories from around Fayetteville, but it would be nice to have some more. Any one who contributes will receive credit for their stories in my book.

I've heard about the Flintville light in my neck of the woods. And I think there's an old graveyard on Circle Drive in town that's supposed to be haunted. Maybe you could check into those stories.

I moved to fayetteville in 1959. I heard about the flintville light off and on thru the years. In the summer of 1975 while on leave from the army I decided I would finally go check out this flintville light story for myself. I drove one friday nite with my date to flintville and parked at the railroad crossing I had heard people say was a good place to see the light, that is if this thing were true. My date and I got out of the car and sat looking down the track. It was a pitch black night. After about an hour I was beginning to get sceptical. Then all of a sudden I saw a bright orange light come from out of the woods on the left side of the railroad track. It rose to what seemed like a height of about six feet above the center of the railroad track. It was about the size of a basketball and the light grew in intense to a brilliant orange color. It then begin to move toward us slowly. We we wanting to run but I could not take my eyes off of this light. It was unreal. We slowly got back in the car but continued to watch the light which kept moving toward us. It was hard to judge the distance but I think it was less than a few hundred feet away. Then all of a sudden the light vanished just like someone turns off a light switch. We left with us both believers. I am positive of what I saw. This light is amazing.

Thanks for the story there daddy rabbit. It's a shame that the old tracks aren't there anymore. I haven't heard of any sightings since they took them up. I know that a long as I can remember the story of the light has been around. Great true life story. Thanks again

I heard that there are 2 houses that are haunted on Old Huntsville Rd-i actually lived in both them years ago. They are on the corner of McAnally rd-kind of close to Taft. In the peach colored one(or at least it was peach colored when i lived there)I never saw anything but the ones who lived there before i did saw all kinds of stuff. Although when I lived in the white one i saw my shadow moving when i was standing still-very weird!

Sounds like it's worth investigating and maybe getting some history of the place. Thanks for the input.

The old hospital is a paranormal powerhouse. Just imagine all the life and death that building has hosted. Good luck getting them to let you stay all night but if you can it will be worth it. Babies crying, smell of rubbing alcohol, things moving all by themselves, voices, etc. Go in and just sit on the bare floor......then wait.

I used to live in this one apartment in Fayetteville, pretty nice place too. One day I was outside with my mom on the porch and a couple of teenagers walked by and we heard one say,"You see that one there? That's the haunted one." My mom and I thought they were just joking... But apparently they weren't. A couple days later, I was in my room reading (I shared a room with my two younger sisters) and then, I heard someone say something. I didn't look up from my book and said,"Shush, I'm reading." I heard it again and this time I looked up. Nothin' was there. I heard it AGAIN, but this time, from the closet. I was scared, and I mean SCARED. I wanted to go run away out of my room, and I was about to when my closet door slowly opened. I screamed and ran out of the room into the living room. Both my sisters were sitting down watching TV. I moved and now live in Huntland, in yet another haunted house... Oh and @jellybean yeah, you are right. I was born in that hospital, and it was next to where my mom used to work. Onetime I was sitting in the car waiting for her when I saw a light in a certain room turn on. I was freaked, and everyone knows about it. It's always the same room too, weird huh? I've never went inside though, but I would LOVE to!

I have a relative who works in the skill connected to the old hospital. He claims to have seen spirits in the halls at night. There is also the "cry-baby Hollar" story about the woman who threw her baby off the kelso bridge and if you go at night and turn off your car you can hear the baby crying.

Two teachers have had ghost encounters while working late at Unity School. I grew up at that school and I always got eerie feelings when I would stay late with my dad!

My dads grandmother used to live right beside it.When he was small he used to go over there every day and watch it.As story goes a man during the 1800s was walking down the track and he got ran over by the train. He was holding a lantern and the train cut his head off.The light is his lantern and head.

The light that is being spoken of was on the NC& St.L railroad which ran right on my husband's (Dairrell Cranford) family property line right in front of their house. He was born and raised there and saw it all the time. He could tell you the stories for sure. It would travel up and down the track. Sometimes it would be larger, sometimes smaller , brighter, then not as bright. They would sit on their porch and his Mother would comment that it was "showing out tonight". Duke University came and did a study, but came to no conclusive find. I had heard many a time about the infamous light, but I was a skeptic. We were married several years and then I had an experience of seeing it for the first time. I was terrified and broke the land speed record in running back to the house. LOL. The road that it is located on is Cranford Road, which is my husbands family. His parents were Joel & Cludie Cranford and it never really phased them. The road and their driveway was a very busy area for curious sight seers and was a bit frustrating at times. Something's are just not able to be explained. The light is one of them.

Was the apartment in Village at Carver Falls? I heard talking and screaming in that apartment. Tvs would turn on late at night, and computers would randomly start playing music. Sleeping between 2 and 4 was hell in that apartment.
