Fire destroys motorhome

If 1977 is considered "late" model for a motor home I would hate to think what an older model would be!

Not As Concerned - I was thinking the same thing when I read the article. Could be a typo and it was a 1997 model. Can't think a '77 would have that much value but I guess it's possible.

At probably 7 miles to the gallon, and a limited supply of oil nowadays, I think Edward did the planet a favor.
Hey, it was 1977 - probably either this or shoot it and put it out of its misery! |

Looks like the Hindenberg.

Even if it was a 1977 it might have held a lot of memories to the owner!

Sounds like the insurance company "bought" this one. A full tank of gasoline always makes 'em burn a lil' faster !

Hi Folks, Sure wish I had the fuel that was pumped into that thing!!

If I had a gas guzzling Dinosaur, I think a little lighting strike would relieve the pressure. I bet their insurance company checks this one out with a fine tooth comb.

If you look at the "On the Scene" section, it has Brian Teller taking the pics and saying it was a MOBILE home! I like that 2 people at the exact same time taking the exact same pics and one of them being a member of the fire department who said he would never mix the two.

this wreaks of insurance fraud.

First off, I would've thought that you guys would be more compassionate than to praise the loss of someone's valued possesion.
My family was at the gas station when the RV caught on fire. My husband grabbed our fire extinguisher from the car and ran over, spraying the engine, but it was no use. Within minutes the RV was engulfed. Contributing to the loss of the RV was the fact that 911 could not be reached at first. After quite a few attempts, the store manager finally got through. The fire department arrived about 20 minutes after the fire started. Also, the RV WAS a 1977 model, and it had an empty tank...he did NOT just fill up. |

maybe i'm missing something, if it had an empty tank, where'd the fuel come from. One of the local fd websites made reference to approx. 70 gallons of fuel being involved.
I honestly hope you aren't complaining about response time of the fire departments. It happened about 4 or 5 ish right? Bad traffic and a lot of volunteers are working. I was listening to bits and pieces on the scanner, didn't follow the whole thing. The department that was sent at first was Fayetteville. I believe they are VOLUNTEER. If you and your husband aren't satisfied at how fast they respond, go to one of the stations in the county and offer your services.(Not a volunteer myself but the victim of a garage fire a few years back. Middle of the night, took a few mins for help to arrive but grateful that people were willing to get out of bed at 2 a.m. and help out). |

Thank you, "Don't forget"

Queen, the attitude of 'for the record' is very typical of this area. They dont' want taxes to pay for "career" emergency services but are the first to complain when help takes a while or the staffing of the units are low. These volunteers perform thankless tasks ever day and it po's me when people take shots at them. I have friends that are volunteers and I have tremendous respect for them. I'm glad they offered to help out but it seemed that post was a veiled shot at the ff's that came.
One thing that needs addressed is what was the problem with 911 that the poster refers to. Hopefully the PO will look into this if it was an actual problem. |

I arrived on scene shortly before Keith. I was called in (by the P.O.) to take pictures of the fire. Our pictures (that of Keith and I) are not the same. Please explain to me how I was acting as a member of a fire department and taking pictures for the paper at the same time? If you aren't informed, and are just here to make fulminating statements, I suggest you stay off the board. |
|
People don't realize this but with the current congestion and road construction on the Exit-20 bridge emergency vehicles are to detour their route using either Woodstock Rd. or Ragged Edge Rd. In this case, they did that (which added to their response time). Lets not forget the time of day, current weather conditions (storm), and congestion on 997 at the time. |

Hmmmm, oh yea, if I'm gonna burn something for insurance, I'm gonna fill it with close to $300 in fuel and then I'm gonna do it in broad daylight and a heavily travelled area, yep, makes sense to me!!!
