They picked up the vehicle but returned it the next day?

Considering that it's a U.S.-made Dodge product, it could one of any number of reasons.

LOL.

Well since you are out of town you have no clue what you are talking about. This department is a black eye in the public. There are certain folks at FVFD that do what they want. They bought the vehicle and the president returned the vehicle the next day.

Had the feeling that FVFD knew what they were doing. Was hoping so since they serve me and I contribute to them.

Will be interesting to learn more?

If there is a signed contract (as the report mentions), then the FVFD should be held responsable for the vehicle.
Is this the same fire company that had a problem with their chief a year or so ago?

"...the organization contracted for a 2007 Dodge Nitro suburban..."

After re-reading this, I guess there was not a mention of a "signed" contract. I suppose that brings up the question about exactly what type of contract it was?

No One it says your from Castle rock, co so how is it that you know so much. Each and every fire department has it's issues. It's a good ole boy club and if you are not in a click their will be problems.

It's time that these forums such as this one and a couple other firefighter forums quit bashing each other.

Firefighters are here to support their communities and project property and lives. They bust their butts on fund raising each and every day.

Heck Shivley Motors should do what a ford dealership in Chambersburg has done and that is donate a vehicle. The owners of these dealerships can afford it not to mention it's a great tax right off.

This is a prime example of not getting your own way so sue. I'm sure this vehicle could be sold on their lot so their should be no reason to sue a VOLUNTEER fire department.

If you have personal issues with Fayetteville Fire Department call and find out when their company meeting is and show up. It's a community supported organization so the sunshine law should make these meetings open to the public.

Don't come on these forums and bash the volunteers or others. This is no place for that and will only give everyone in the emergency services field a bad name!

Don`t be so quick as to put this Fire Company down. All fire companies have had their problems. There are a few bad apples everywhere. There are a lot of great firefighters and medics in all of our fire companies. Wait to see what the problem really was before placing judgement.

This seems to be a news piece that should NOT have been put in the paper or online until more facts were known to the reporter or staff.

Shively is a well known advertiser in the paper.

FVFD hasn't had the best reputation lately but, that has been getting better. There SHOULD have been a statement from Fayettville's side. I'm going to call over there myself and find out. For your information, in case you were wondering, I am not affiliated with that department.

Shame on you P.O. Bad reporting. We need to be able to put our trust in our emergency services and you won't even give them a chance? Wrong, just plain wrong.

Along with why was the vehicle returned. The public opinion fails to mention this to everone. Was it returned due to not being within contract specs or was their vehicle issues already?

It would be nice to know the WHOLE story and not just what the newspaper wants us to hear

Just another example of fine reporting from the PO. NOT!!!!!!!
Apparently the PO needs some spelling help and a good proofreader.

Once the vehicle was driven out of the dealership,
it becomes a used vehicle. Therefore Shively could not resale it as a new vehicle and thus lose one year's depreciation which is approximately 25 percent of the initial cost.

If it was to be used for a Medic Unit, that is a paid portion of the fire dept. Yes the company has volunteers, but it also has a large paid staff.

I don't think that firemans relief is able to purchase EMS equipment but I may be wrong on this. It was my understanding that this was to be a chief's vehicle which in this day and age of tight budgets and less income is uncalled for and a waste of spending.

If you wanted to be chief and elected into the position then use your own vehicle to respond to and from calls and attend meeting. Not rely on the taxpayers and community as a whole to foot the bill.

If everyone that became chief had to use their own POV then we wouldn't have the chief of the department due to insurance cost for POV to run emergency. These fire department people out to help people and we seem to always find excuses to cut down departments. We need to stop that due to we are losing volunteer and if that happen you the taxpayer will pay more taxes due to the fire departments will all have to go paid and that means higher taxes.

Public Opinion Newspaper, this is just like your staff to publish an article where you don't have the complete story -- you just want to stir up the community. Get the FACTS, then report your story. Shame on you for this article and every other article you publish that is trash without the truth.
