So sorry, if somebody is sneaking in, breaking in your house @5:30 and your spouse and KIDS are the house sleep, you're not picking up the phone. they weren't delivering anything but ill will towards anyone who would have been in their way...

It is a sad day when someone so young dies over a foolish act. However, a homeowner needs to know the laws. Without the home owner feeling threaten for his life but only get spooked and shots an intruder the homeowners entire world can be turn upside down. Meaning the intruder can sue the homeowner for wounding him, but dead men cannot talk the police would say. A homeowner hast to make sure it truly was in self-defense. The shame is most of us are not trained like the police not to react especially when strangers enter our home. Instead, we must plead as soon as the officers show up on sight that we feared for our life and/or family lives. As everyone has stated in this case it was in self-defense so the young man lost his life over invading someone home. Even though the homeowner had just cause to protect his household, the other bad part of this young man dieing was the homeowner would have to live with it for the rest of his life. In addition, I am sure the entire family was distraught by the terror that early morning and they may never get over it. Think about it you are awoke by a shot going off in your home. You do not know what just happen unless you were the one who pulled the trigger. The children and wife do not know now if the dad is laying dead. Instead, terror runs threw ever vein in their body because of the unknown of what just happen and what will happen next. Then you have all kind of commotion and finally the police show up. A person does not always have time to call the police before being confronted with an invasion. However, the law will hold us victims at fault unless they are all the way in the house and coming up the hall. Do I feel sorry for the 16-year-old boy who die, of course because he did not weigh out the cost and his family is in pain not just, because they lost a son, but because he committed a senseless crime that caused them to be put in agony. It is never a win situation on either side.
