Keep in mind hatcher did not match the eye witness reports of the man who lured the children away, nor did his teeth match the bites on the kids...and the kids both ended up on water works road, not far from the caves...
Tee I think you are getting confused with the original man charged in the case; Marvin Reynolds. He was the one who did fit the desription. After a few years in prison another murder took place. It WAS Hatcher who committed the murders and had committed several others all around the country.

so if you know where felix grave is please let me know because itis not at sunbridge conservation
It is there. You have to walk down the very wide path to your right. The path will get narrow as you go. Then you will see a small iron fence that most of it is falling down. The name Felix is the last name. It's an old family grave site. There are about seven tomb stones up there. A lot of them are knocked over.

my gf is from here and when i heard of the devil-worshippers-in-caves story, i had her take me there. i found signs of simple wiccan type rites there, and just one cave too small for any human to crawl into. there is no 'devil worship' going on there. people should do like me- go and look for themselves before perpetuating ridiculous tales.
this cellar thing is likely the same.
i remember all this stuff about felixs grave as a teen in the 70's i even went up there its a rather old cemetary in a remote area so to speak i think most of what is being said about it is just myth plain old talk i never seen anything up there back then as for kinghill cemetary rumors are a witch named nancy is said to have been buried there years and years ago i have many friends buried there and i can tell u im now in my 50's and i have heard voices up there in the daylight when i was there alone turning around i saw nothing now im not saying this stuff dont happen but the things u hear now about all of this is about the same as it was back then

Thanks, Sam. It is nice to know someone still looks after the old cemetery. I grew up directly across the road from the entrance to it on Huntoon Rd. My house is long gone, thanks to I-229. My family still owns property that connects to one side. I can't tell you how many times I played in that graveyard and cleaned up the messes from all the parties. My brother and I would set the stones back up, just to find them turned over again the next weekend. No, the houses south of the cemetery do not belong to the family. If my memory serves me right, my grandmother, who owned property on the north side, said that the family of Worthwine and Lilliger owned the property, but their house (or houses) burnt done long ago.
Sometime around 1970 a Dentist and his wife bought the property and wanted to build a house right on top of the cemetery. Back then, there was a beautiful view of the river from it. They filed petitions to have the cemetery relocated, but were not granted permission and soon lost interest. The name Felix's Graveyard comes from the partiers that hung out there. Felix was the last name on one of the stones and I'm thinking the only name on that stone. Since it was smaller than some of the others, it was the first one to be pushed over and people would move around the cemetery, ergo "Felix's Graveyard" was born. I remember a time when was a big deal to party with "Felix" and they would take his stone outside the iron gate and make shrines to it. I never partied there. I didn't see any fun hanging out in my back yard.
I used to run those hills day and night. I wonder how many people would get a glimpse of me out of the corner of there eye and think it was a ghost. I do know that one time in high school someone was all freaked out because Felix's stone would always go back to it's original grave site. They said it was eerie, because you could tell no one every went up there except to party. I just smiled to myself. Thanks for the memories.

I am 19 and have been to felix's graveyard a dozen times. Nothing ever happened until this last time.
My fiance, myself and a friend of ours went up to the grave at say 1130-12 at night on a friday. The whole way to the graveyard i kept hearing rustling beside us, like an animal, but it wa bigger, and closer than most animals dare to get to humans. We reache the graveyard, went in for maybe 5 minutes and then went to leave. Id never had an uneasy feeling up there before, but that time i did. As we were walking back the rustling followed us, again, all the way to the clearing where the first trail splits. I felt as if there were people watching us..not just one or two, more like 10-15. There were wierd groans and a few shrieks that i myself heard, but neither my fiance nor our friend heard them.
That was the first time i was there at night. I want to go back again after dark, but i will make sure i have SEVERAL high powered lamps, and flashlights and i will NEVER go by myself

I'm writing an article about this graveyard for Tuning Fork's web site. This is a follow-up article of one I recently wrote for them about St. Joseph's urban legends. Below is the link to that story. Any information anyone has regarding this graveyard can email me at [email protected] Thanks!

I had always heard stories of the Devil worshippers in the caves on the west side of Sunbridge. Growing up in St. Joe, it was a fairly common story. Just recently, as a grown man I was talking to my Father, uncles and some of thier friends (who were all pretty big teenage hellraisers in St joe in the 70's) Apparently they decided to party in the caves one night and thought it would be a fun idea to run around drunk with roadflares. A few days later, the newspaper had an article warning St. Joe residents about the devil worshippers in the caves after witnesses reported seeing strange red lights. Im not saying that there arent practicing witches and wiccans and who knows what else that have been in those caves. But my belief is that the original rumor started that night with a bunch of drunk teenagers and a box of roadflares.

its crazy that none of the posters to this topic are from st. joseph mo. i am from st joseph born and raised. i blieve most stories to be hoax. except for a small few. the benton high school ghost well they have photos on the walls of their ghost. now felixes graveyard wow i get goosebumps just thinking about it. the graveyard is not the spooky place it is a sad place because of the overturned and lost headstones. but the creepy unwelcoming is from the woods all around it. ive seen enuf up there at dawn that ill never go at night. and all the woods connected or close to that area arent right by any means
