It's about time. I worked for Waste Management for 10 years and it was a miserable job. People screamed at you constantly for what the carters did or didn't do. What took so long for someone to initiate this system? While I was there, Gene Gerrard talked about a central call system and nothing ever happened. I now work for a county in Florida and their Citizen's Action Center is wonderful.

This system has worked in communities around the nation to give residents--aren't they government's customers?--the service they deserve. Foley is all about better service to residents and saving taxpayer dollars, and this new call system will do both. It was encouraging to see Newsday cover an important good government initiative that serves the public--all too often it's all crime, fires, sex offenders and the easy hits. Congratulations.

i think supervisor foley is going in the right direction, in the past 40 years none of the streets were fixed, no lighting, north ocean avenue looks great the reps never did anything !! he is only in office less then 2 years give him a chance,I ran into him at 7-11 one sunday afternoon and my conclusion is i feel he is a good guy, but we shall see, rome was not built in one day. he is not a stupid man.
