Where is the dog park? I thought it was off 25 in Middle Island but I have driven through there and did not see it.

And when these loose dogs attack and injure each other or other owners... who picks up the tab? Stupid question.... it's the TAXPAYER once again!

Once again a waste of Taxpayers money and as mentioned above a liability as well.

A park for dogs? what about a park for kids? Let people keep the dogs in their own back yard.

He is a mean dog and he hates other dogs. I hate them and their owners too. We both like a good mauling! See you at the dog park!

Goes without saying, any town board meeting that you get to speak at, whether for or against, they make you wait until everyone is just about gone, and then they give you 3 min. to say your thing. I'm sure most people had issues with liability, but, the town wanted this park built. And by golly, it got built. Shame on them when the first bite happens, Let's hope it's not too bad where some innocent child gets mauled or killed by Spike the pitbull. He does have a very good point....

Just because the residents of this horrid island are stuck in the 50's does not mean that dog owners should have no where good to socialize their animals. Change is not always bad but here it's a four letter word. This is the least dog friendly place I've ever lived, dog parks work fine throughout the country. Dog parks are wonderful ways to socialize your dog- my dog's quality of life has decreased tremendously since coming here. One of the many reasons it's not worth the cost of remaining. At least kids have school to remain socialized, but My main issue is the cost involved, LI may have wonderful resources but nothing is free even with the outrageous taxes (the education isn't that good!) and I refuse to put any more money into a non-functioning govt. FYI- this park has been in the works for about a year, if you didn't know about it, learn to pay attention and get educated on a topic instead of complaining about.

Long Island HAS gotten better within the past couple of years when it comes to dog-parks. I'm suprised this new facility is charging residents a fee.I've been to West Hills and Blydenburgh and there was no fee; is that going to change? Yet there are a lot of instances that need to be covered if dog-parks are successful on Long Island. For instance, why was there a pit-bull in the small dog park at Blydenburgh? He/She may be the most mildest tempered dog in the world but in case of a fight, I'd want my little dog to have a chance of surviving. In a way it's ironic 'can't wait to leave'; my husband and I traveled through most of the country with our dog and Utah was the least friendliest. Hotel after hotel had big block letters on the front doors saying NO DOGS ALLOWED.

I am happy to have the dog park. I think it will be a great way to socialize my dog as well as meet some neighbors. My family lives in Manhattan and takes their dogs to the dog park all the time. They love it and there have been very few problems. As long as dog owners follow the rules.

As Councilwoman Kepert cashes both her checks, she is a double dipper, earning $250K, she neglects the children, and panders to the dog community. Where is the environmental impact statement on all the sh_t dumped on our ground water in one location. Where's the kids sports fields, baseball, lacrosse, football, soccer...to mention a few of our needs; you promised to construct. Can't wait to defeat you next year.

They should tear down the old KMart shopping center and build a park there before it sits boarded up and abandoned for too long. Ridge and Middle Island need to make sure their neighborhoods stay rural and peaceful. A dog park, a kids park, a sports field are all good for the local community. Boarded up buildings are not.

Are you morons kidding me? I can not believe the BS I am reading on here. I go to the dog park in Hauppauge and Huntington all the time. People are constantly making sure the dogs are behaving, and I have never seen a problem arise. I don't have children, yet my tax money goes to schools and parks for kids, but you have the nerve to complain about tax money being spent on one park? What percentage of your tax bill went for schools? Do you pay more if you have more than one child? Keep popping out babies into an already overcrowded world, and complain about a freakin dog park. Unbelievable. I think it's great, and I hope the town of CROOKHAVEN builds more. It's about time. Oh, and to the NIMBY'S, complaining about the dog park in their yard...Trust me, the soccer fields and baseball fields where fathers scream at the top of their lungs at 6 year olds are MUCH worse than a dog park will be!

You sign a liability waiver, if your dog gets hurt, or hurts another dog, it's your responsibility, not the taxpayers... Who pays when a kid gets hurt on the swingset at a town park, I wonder????? When parents don't properly supervise their kids??? Hmmmmmmmm?

Do you really think there are are no parks for kids on the island? Do you live in a cave? By the way, thats a good thing, there should be parks for kids, I just can't imagine how you could say such a thing...

No. The parks for children are in a sorry state. Athletic fields are few and far between-- not associated with schools. We all have backyards, and side walks, this is the suburbs. How about walking the dogs whilst walking yourselves. Rather than letting the dog off the leash while you eat an ice cream cone. PS: Thank you for doing your part in our society by not spawning.
