Should local developers receive stimulus money?

There are 3 comments on the WHEC-TV Rochester, NY story from Mar 31, 2009, titled Should local developers receive stimulus money?. In it, WHEC-TV Rochester, NY reports that:

Local towns and counties are asking for stimulus money but should local developers get a piece of the government funding? Farmington town officials say if one developer was given $42-million, he'd create hundreds of new jobs and some residents say a water park could kick start the local economy.

This is a tough one. I'm all for giving money to devolopers as long as it is a researched project that will end up actually doing good for the area economy. However, if it ends up like the fast ferry or high falls we all lose. How do you decide who gets it and who doesn't?

how can anyone justify a waterpark for a boost in the local economy in new york state, come on, enough's, only get 4 months of warm weather and when does this stimulus gouging end... Put into manufacturing and housing, not water parks!!!!!!

Who are you kidding? This money can go to so many better things to get out economy going. And then when it goes bust we get to pay again to have it all torn down. Remember the Fast Ferry.
