Gotta love how economic laws are always followed. The San Juan Basin's economy is based on extraction. The demand for our main product, gas, has dropped. Couple that with the state wide ignorant pit rules, that has raised the lifting cost of gas, and we have a tanked local economy. Believe it or not, our local economy will not saved by selling friendship bracelets to lost tourists.
- easy there Lefts.... The pit rules are needed in SE NM, but not here. Our worst produced water problem is chlorides. Plus, the outfit that regulates the 'pit rules', NMOCD, won't allow producers to dump pure water that has gone through a reverse osmosis filter..... scarey stupid and in charge.
enjoy all,

Good job city management team. You're dealing with hard realities and the citizens are still receiving all of their services. Even though I'm sure you'll be harshly criticized on this forum you deserve to be thanked for all you're doing.

you fortgot if EPA's B.A.R.T. regulation is passed. If APS chooses to shut down units 1-2-3 there goes 300 jobs, BHP will then lay off 200 more because APS won't be consuming as much coal. that's 500 jobs with above average pay. that will be even less revenue in farmington. other regulations down the line, the carbon tax and fly ash being classified as hazardous material.

As businesses continue to close their doors: PEOPLE without jobs, PEOPLE on reduced incomes, PEOPLE loosing unemployment benefits, the City of Farmington (Rob Mayes) refuses to cut Electric and Water Rates - stealing money from the poor and struggling Businesses, the City continues to build surpluses for power plants that are not needed and water pipes that are not broken.
CUT THE ELECTRIC AND WATER RATES, NOW - give the PEOPLE and BUSINESS a chance for survival.

Dear TeaPartyTime and TellerOfLies (both the same poster), You are are either ignorant or an idiot by choice. Rob Mayes doesn't control electric or any other utility rates. The City Council must approve all rates. Mayes is the administrative chief who only has whatever power the City Council gives him. You persist in spreading LIES regarding city business aimed at Rob Mayes for some reason. Our electric rates are some of the lowest in the nation. Only a staunch lefty would call paying bills for services rendered "stealing" from the poor.

The City (Rob Mayes) overcharging the POOR and putting the extra money in accounts for building new power plants that are not needed and to repair water lines that are not broken is the work of a Zomby who has no will of his own, walking around blindly with dead eyes, following orders, not caring what they do - Like Socialist Democrats.

Hello George Sharpe - We Are Watching !
'After a thorough evaluation of its Four Corners assets, Western has decided to consolidate the operations of its two Four Corners refineries into one at the Gallup refinery. This consolidation will eliminate certain operating costs of approximately $25 million per year beginning in the first quarter of 2010 while maintaining the capability to process the same volumes of crude that have been recently processed at both Bloomfield and Gallup combined'.

The city received $12.2 million in gross receipts tax revenue the first quarter... Ok, got that.

The city received $11.8 million in general fund revenue July through September this year... Ok, which one is right?

City leaders are watching spending closely, including postponing purchases of vehicles, Mayes said. The city is being "very cautious" when considering which jobs to fill when they are vacated... This is good.

108 Program Coordinator 11/13/09 Is this a new Job?
111 Recreation Leader 11/20/09 and is this two new jobs?

'The $11.8 million was 5.2 percent less than city officials expected. The city received 4.8 percent less in gross receipts tax revenue than forecasted in the budget, Mayes said'.
EXPECT one number and then FORECAST another number - just another example of Rob Mayes rationalizing - to ascribe (one's acts, opinions, etc.) to causes that superficially seem reasonable and valid but that actually are unrelated to the true, possibly unconscious and often less creditable or agreeable causes.
Facts about Farmington:
FARMINGTON: Waldenbooks in the Animas Valley Mall will close its doors in January 2010.
Mesa Air Group is discontinuing its pilot training program at San Juan College.
Western Refining just layed off 200 employees.
Does Mayes believe that Happy Days Are Here Again ??

I must have missed something. Can you explain what the environmentalists have to do with this move?

Hello? Can anyone help me find a store in Farmington that sells penny candy, particularly "wax lips"? I was told I could purchase them there. I think someone was pulling my leg. And, OH Yeah, it's a shame that the city is losing tax revenue..

LOL........ lol, dang it, I peed a litle, lol. Can't say how much I enjoyed your sarcasm. I enjoyed it as much as the contrast in our political views. With that said, you are a funny muder fuktr. lol...
By the way, the mercado on San Juan Blvd. sells the Mexican candy that has no FDA regulation. That would be the best place to find oil based and uncooked lard based candy.
Also, don't forget that your town is losing revenue. The grifted tax money is down and smelly hippies can not afford road trips anymore. Hence the drastic drop in tourism yuans. lol
I am glad that you have a sense of humour, It gives me hope in man and the Left.
With honesty - enjoy,

OH WELL! Someone had a slice of crab apple pie today!! I did find what I was looking for at Zaynas and she did have a killer sale...Best price ever on wax lips with no coupon necessary! Anyway..I'm heading to Wal-Mart for some bargains now...Shop till I Drop says my husband. I do feel for the loss of the tax revenue though...My husband says it will affect us but I'm not sure how.
