Do you have to have the holy ghost to go to heaven?

I hear some preachers say you do and some say you don't. If you do where does it say in the bible you do?

We believe you do. Read the book of Acts in the New Testament. Acts 19:2 Paul asks Have they received the Holy Ghost since they believed. 2 Corinthians 1:18-22, Ephesians 1:13 and Ephesians 4:30 speak of the people of God being sealed until the day of redemption. If the anti-christ has a mark (or seal) the Jesus Christ has a seal on what belongs to him.

If Jesus was full of the Holy Ghost,(Luke 4:1), wouldn't you want to be full of the Holy Ghost?
He said he would send the Comforter back for us i.e., the Holy Ghost.

What't the big deal? If you have the Holy Ghost already, and those of us who believe it is a requirement are wrong, we have nothing to lose. We can only pray that this will be revealed to others. If you are certain in your convictions, then you have nothing to worry about.

The answers we seek are in the bible. Pray that God will open your spirtual understanding. That which is spiritual will comprehend.

(Ephesians 4:13 but it wouldn't hurt to read the whole chapter).

I think the writer of the above post meant to say organized or organizational religion, down fall, and accept Jesus Christ, as well as reading the King James Version of the Bible. There are also several other good versions of the Bible to help our understanding or supplement the King James Version such as the King James Version Easy Reading, Joyce Meyer Amplified Version (doesn't necessarily have to be the Joyce Meyer one, but she helps break it down on a personal level), The Parallel Bible, The Scoffield Study Bible, New Living Translation, just to name a few - in the English Language. Unless you're reading from the original scrolls in the original text and languages of Hebrew and Greek,these have been considered very accurate translations. Another interesting venue for learning how the KJV got to become the most accepted version of the bible in the English speaking world is the Scriptorium at the Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Florida.

To nana, if you attend a local assembly, then I think it would be wise to consult with your pastor. If you don't attend a local bible-believing church, then ask God to direct you to a good one where your spiritual needs can be met.

God is the ultimate judge, but everything in the New Testament points to a clear answer - yes.

Don't just read one book of the bible. Read the whole bible, or at least read all of the New Testament. And it's easy to just start with the 4 gospels and the book of Acts (the 1st 5 books of the NT). Jesus was baptized unto repentence (he who knew no sin) and was not only full of the Holy Ghost, but spoke in an unknown language when he was on the cross, then I don't believe he would want us to do what he himself did not do. Also, if we are servants of Jesus Christ, then the servants are never greater than the Master.

However, one is free to believe whatever they choose to believe. It's no more difficult to accept the fact that one does need the Holy Ghost than to believe the convenience that one does not need the Holy Ghost.

Also, the Holy Spirit is not an "it". The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and is God residing in us once we accept Christ as our Lord & Savior. Jesus promised that once he left the earth in bodily for, that the Father would send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. He prays with and for us and resides in us able enables us to live in a manner that gives glory and honor to God. Without the Holy Spirit, we can not produce the "fruit" listed in Galations.(love, patience, etc.)

Perhaps you did not fully understand what you read. Jesus' reply to the repentent and respectful thief was : Verily I say to you, Today shall you be with Me in paradise.-Luke 23:43

This was still under the OT, before the Holy Ghost (The Comforter) was given in the NT as recorded in Acts 2
