ACE power deposit was $440

The Alcorn County Electric association has changed its deposit policy. Now no matter how long you have lived here, and no matter how long you have paid your bill in full and on time, you have to pay a deposit equal to twice the average bill. A family of five used to live in the house I just rented; so, even though I've never had a late payment in 3 years of service and already had a $100 deposit, I now have to pay $440. I hope no one else tries to move to Corinth ever again, and I will advise everyone against it. Lucky for them I had already signed my lease or I would have just moved to another town or to Michie which would be fine for me.
To top it off, I had called ahead to get the deposit, and they said it would be $250. It was not easy for me just to throw $200 more at them when it was senseless. Imagine how painful it will be for someone with limited income. I asked them if poor people just didn't get to have power and they said they could have power if they could come up with the money. I am pretty sure ACE hates poor ppl and I'm equally sure that I hate them. I will be talking to the public services commissioner tomorrow. I hope he can help me fight this ridiculous mess.

What a sham and a ripoff! I guess the manager of ACE are gearing up for vacations or maybe new cars to charge rates like that! My question is who is running that little jerk off operation anyway? It's too bad they have the monopoly on power here in this pathetic excuse for a town!

It's sad and senseless. What did I do to be punished like that? I paid my bill on time and showed I was dependable and now I still pay the price.

That's crazy. I don't live in Corinth anymore but I have a rent house there. That's way too much to have to pay.

I know exactly how you feel... I'm consider poor in my mind I guess and I think this is ridiculous.. I'm having to borrow money to get in the the house let alone the electric... I can't stay where I'm living cause the air doesn't work.. its July and I'm literally buring up :(
