Just so you know Wolf Creek Fire Department has gone through alot of changes in the past two years. There have been new policies and procedures put in place that have made it not only better in responding but also more professionally operated as well. There have been new officers put in position and who are actually doing their jobs. Many of the problems have been weeded out. Yes,it used to have a bad reputation in the community as being a "good ole boy" fire station but the officers and firefighters that are on there now are professional and helpful. If your friend has put in an application recently and been turned away there would be good reasoning for it. The new fire chief is a fair man but if someone isn't what they are looking for or he thinks they may cause a liability down the road he will not consider them past the initial application.

The guys might be alright but their wife's and girlfriends are a bunch of two faced hags that have nothing better to do then set around and back stab each other and run their mouths. It's funny how they can even trust their men enough to go to the fire house alone. Wow lady's get a grip if your that insecure lose some weight or put on some makeup or something

Bart mabry is the new chief. As far as the girlfriends and wives being down there, they all pretty much get along. There are just a couple that always seem to cause some type of drama but they have been dealt with.

What does it matter to you if their girlfriends and wives are down there? As far as them being insecure i dont think that has anything to do with it. I have been down there several time and met some of the ladies you are speaking of. Yes, there is definitely one like that but she is actually on the department. For the most part all of them seem very friendly and nice. I have even seen a couple helping when needed.

The position of chief should have went to Steve Young. Period.

Bart is not a prick, but he is quiet. As long as you do what you are supposed to do you shouldn't have a problem. Yes,Steve would have been a good choice as well but he does travel alot. Sounds to me like you may have been one of the problems to say that about Bart.

Nothing wrong with the women being down there. Kind of funny how you originally said that they all stab each other in the back and never trust their men. I know several go down there to visit with each other while the men are in the meetings. I have seen it for myself. They all seem to get sling and the one who doesn't and causes the rumors to start is the same one who is usually in the middle of sll drama that is caused down there. The women go to support their husband's as well. If anyone has a problem with them being down there who is actually on the department they should take it to their officer. Real simple,if there was actually a problem with them being down there it would have been addressed.

Then exactly how would you know if bart wasn't a worthy person for the job of chief?

It's not that he isn't a worthy person never said that. I simply said that Steve deserved it over him.

As for gf/ wives comment I find ridicoulous and they are just as involved w/ helping out at the dept..that's nobodys business but te depts..as or someone wining an dogging a fire dept about gettig declined. Assured theirs good reason why u was declined... WCFD is a professional organization that has grown w/ this communtity that doesn't get the recognization it deserves. As for Chief Bart Mabry he's not a prick. As for those of you on here dogging any firefighter how disrespectul you are and shame on you!

First I am extremely surprised to see a post on here about Wolf Creek Fire Department. The first post was by someone named Local posting "?". Local, if you have a question in reference to Wolf Creek Fire Department you can go to their website and submit your question via email. Yup, if your friend has submitted several applications and feel that he has been passed up for no reason then my suggestion would be to have him request. Meeting with the Fire Chief.

Wolf Creek has gone through many changes in the last 10 years. They have went from a department with one good pumper, a good small rescue, two out of date tankers, two out of date pumpers and two junk pick up trucks for brush trucks to a fleet of two up to date pumpers, a newer tanker, a bigger rescue, a squad and three professionally built brush trucks. They have increased their fire tag numbers through several years of positive community outreach. They have state of the art extrication equipment, technical rescue equipment, and firefighting equipment that was previously relied on other departments to assist with for years.

As for the drama stuff, please grow up. There is drama in all organizations and it will always be. We are all adults and everyone should be able to deal with that.

As for Bart Mabry as the new Fire Chief, I feel it was a very good choice. A Fire Chief needs above all to be a great organizer and I see know one else better fit for that position than Bart. Chief Maybry and Asst. Chief Young work extremely well together and will lead the department well into the future. They both have their own qualities that boost the other making an excellent leadership team.

While some feel that Asst. Chief Young may have "deserved" the Chiefs position, he does travel way too much and does not posess the organizational skills that Chief Mabry does. How do I know this? Because I am Asst. Chief Young.

I would ask that instead of posting bad things about people of this department or the department as a whole that you would bring your concerns to the Chief or Asst. Chief and we can address them in a professional manor rather than on a site like this. I've spent 12 years with Wolf Creek Fire Department and have watched it grow into a very professional organization. If anyone out there thinks that they can better the department I would ask that they come fill out an application.

If I had a choice to let wcfd try and save my house or let it burn, I'd feel more confident in the fire being able to do its job than them. I've been run off the road by the dbags with a flashing light more times than I can count, give me a break, it's a joke of a fd. Waste of SFC tax dollars if you ask me.
