Whether judge receives direct financial benefits, this is extreme conflict here.time to step down from bench immediately. How does public know what goes on behind the scenes! I'm sure sentencing this guy urinating outside.bar is great therapy. A simple ticket would have been appropriate. You judges and police r an abuse of power that need to tone it down! These positions have been going to officials heads. Has anyone done anything they regretted.? Is this even a free country anymore when officials and legislators keep abusing power!? Not hardly to some extent.

This judge should be thoroughly investigated.also this guy who got caught drunk while relieving himself should have been given a ticket.this judge has went way over what is the norm.also the funds this boy wasted for such a trivial issue should be returned.
The judge should step down. This certainly is an extreme conflict of interest. This is reprehensible that this particular violator was even ordered for this alcohol testing in the first place.shame on this shallow judge!

Isn't just this judge. Court ordered for profit testing has become big business in Oakland county and there appears to be no cap on probationers out of pocket cost. Out of control with no oversight. Associated costs of a given misdemeanor can vary widely depending on the judge and the amount of testing that is ordered. Justified as 'tough on crime'

Convicts volunteer for this grief. Nobody drafted them to a life of crime.

Wapner,
Who are you? Another judge who gets a cut of the profits? A life of crime is one thing, but pissing outside or a first offense victimless misdemeanor should not result in a third party profiting at convict's expense. The purpose of the justice system is to protect the community. Our taxes go towards professionals who are trained to assess the risk and assign justice accordingly. Extorting $8,000 from this individual and threatening him for months over a minor offense seems ridiculous. You do realize 75-99% of men have pissed outside? There are sentencing guidelines to insure justice remains balanced. Somehow testing requirements, how they are being directed, and the financial impact appear to be going unchecked. For $8,000 this guy could have treated himself to a top notch treatment facility if his 'addiction' was real. This kid spent more time in the legal system than he should have...appears the 'justice' system was the one trying to 'draft him to a life' in the criminal system.
