Even though it's private property, there are people who have an absolute right to be on that property. A postal worker, UPS,FED EX, DHL, water, gas, electric, sewer utility workers, county tax appraisal employees or contractors, telephone and cable workers using utility right of ways or a "person or child walking from point to point across said property meaning no harm to the residents or landowner there". So if your big ole bad dog comes running in full gallop at you with intentions of chewing your azz up, yes, you neutralize it! Another situation in most states is if your happen to have a "BEWARE OF DOG" sign, you're telling the world you have a vicious animal on the property and that puts you in full financial responsibility of whatever you dog does. Then the two edged sword comes into play when you DON'T put up a sign warning of a vicious breed animal and that animal does something stupid and you're on the hook either way for dog bite or mauling into the seven figure range with hospital bills, doctor bills, and cosmetic reconstruction bills that will floor you! If you happen to have a dog in the top twenty vicious breed animals list, call your homeowners insurance company and make damn sure you have your "one of the family" pet covered with liability.

no one has a absolute right to your property except a police officer or government with a warrant. there is implied and expressed consent to enter someones property. if you have a fence around your property or no trespassing signs posted, anyone needs your expressed consent to enter property. if you have a sidewalk going up to your front porch with no signage, anyone has implied consent to walk up to your front door. if the walkway goes to the backdoor, same thing implies.i have property up north that is fenced and any time utility companies need to come in they contact me and we set up an appointment.people in michigan need to sharpen up on their private property rights
