Well, I've never lived there, but I know enoufh of its history and have known some of those who have. I haven't been to the city of Redford in five years, but I have been on the cusp from time to time and I know that some future posters, if any do post or respond and I think they will, won't care for this commentary, but I'm posting anyway. The once proud and all-white city of Redford has just turned to f#%king s@%t!!!! Its been adulterated by worthless bluegummers and irredeemible white trash who have made life for many of the townspeople almost unbearable. Many of the residents need to be dragged from their crackhouses and clapshacks into the streets and summarily and not necessarily the elder loser pieces of f#%k first and their bodies should remain strewn in the streers,, lawns, sidewalks and along the main roads throughout the townbproper to serve as examples, they'll wear placards with unambiguous msgs on that day, I guess. In my considered and informed opinion, sir, you absolutely should NOT move to Redford. The legislative body will receive the same treatment, too. It won't be cinematic :)

Brian above pretty well sized the situation in Redford up. You might drive through and think it looks livable. You would be wrong now and it will predictably get worse.

As a general rule, you want to locate as far away from Detroit as possible as the ring of blight moves further away from the epicenter.

Of course this all depends upon where you are coming from. If you care moving from Rosa Parks Ave. or downtown Chicago Cabrini Green area, you will experience less blight in Redford in the short term.

Since you provided no background to the question, I have to consider that you must be a troll anyway.

I would wait a few years before moving to Redford Township. There are still quite a few corrupt township officials that have not yet retired and you will not know how much of a property tax increase will happen to help pad their platinum retirement packages. Property taxes could rise 30% because the police and fire retirement is underfunded. Redford Township will probably have to file for bankruptcy to rid the the taxpayers of this burden. You will need to spent some money on a good security system for your home and put bars on your doors and windows because of the many burglaries of homes and garages, include a $100 deductable on your home owners insurance policy so you can fiance a nice winter vacation from your insurance claim check.

I lived in Redford for over 40 years. It used to be a nice place to live. Not anymore. Pay a visit to Fort Snage on Beech Daly to see what a government terrified of it's own people looks like.
Finally, I had enough of the window rattling radios, pit bulls, and morons renting houses that couldn't be sold. I sold my house for cash to an investor, and fled north, never to set foot in that Redford sh!thole again.

Redford Township-The only good use for Redord Township is that it serves a a "buffer" city between Livonia and Detroit. If you plan on moving your business to Redford Township have some money put aside for bribes to the Building Department. One business that moved to Redford Township did not give The Director of Public Services John Selmi an alledged "donation". John Selmi made him paint the property 5 times before he would issue him an Occupancy Permit.

An interesting stat you will never see is the decline in home improvement costs when blacks start to move into areas. It's rather evident in south redford. Drive around the area between telegraph and beech bordered by west Chicago and Plymouth and you can see what I mean. As the blacks move in the white folks give up because they know spending any money to improve their property has no cost benefit.

For further proof look at the neighborhood near St Hillary , east of telegraph. I have to believe the majority of residents are black in the area now and the area looks like an extension of detroit near west parkway.

There will be a burgeoning market for window bars and security system installers.
