Why can't the central office staff take a 10 percent pay cut to aid in balancing the budget? The question I have is (are the salaries the same as other districts for people with the same educational level in the office jobs)?

I agree Fred. I guess it goes to the same reasoning as the city supporting a .5mil millage to vote for new athletic fields to the tune of several million dollars per school to benefit an fraction of the student body. At the same time my kids' school has to do a fundraiser in order to purchase new maps and globes?! I just don't see the logic, but I certainly see the stupidity.

There is so much waste in the public school system. Private schools run excellent programs on far less money. It can be done. There are plenty of areas where cuts can be made.

That money was donated to make new fields; That was the why that money was collected. They couldn't use it elsewhere.

Farmington schools has always wanted to brag about the many programs they have - programs that allows them to get recognized, but programs they start with grants and then can't afford to keep after the grant money is gone. So they overspend and can't even buy textbooks and maps. That is pitiful.
