Another quick change in Livonia that likes to "flush" your car. Oil flushes are a way for the garage to make money and provide no benifit. They also didn't screw on my oil filter fully. Details, Details, Details...

People are nice enough there, unlike B&R or BNR Quick Lube down the street.

TThe idiot that works there knows nothing about cars. He wants to flush your engine and sell you sythetic oil, jut to make money. THIS IS NO PLACE TO GET YOUR OIL CHANGED. Do not patrionize this Big Ray's. They didn't check he tires, fill the windshield washer or check any fluids because I didn't get the more expensive oil. The cost still was $34.00 for jus oil and a filter.

How rude!!! I have never had such bad service in my life. 34 dollas for an oil change then he tried to talk me into spending another $200 on flushes that i just had done 3 months ago!!! Rip off!!! And the guys kept yelling at me and saying my engine is going to die if i didnt get all these motor flushes that day! I will never refer or give my money or service to this big rays ever again!

This is by far the worst place to get any service done. Not only do they try to sell you services you don’t need but they are rude while doing so. Example: the manager whose name was given as “Sam” not only was very rude and full of high pressure sales pitches, removed my cooling cap while it was hot and under pressure. Needless to say he got burnt when the hot coolant exploded from its unnecessary removal. Stamped on cap,
(Do Not Remove While Hot). He then has the gull to try and blame my so called lack of maintenance for his stupidity all the while attempting to sell me flushes, system cleaning and high mileage oil. Now here’s the kicker to this story. They didn’t put on a new oil filter. After arriving home I thought it would be a good idea to check and sure enough the old dirty filter was screwed onto the side of the engine block. When I called to ask about this, I was abruptly hung up on

B&R AND BNR are owned by Big Rays. Don't go to any of them! They are crooks!

And wherever you do go, be sure to check for leaks and the proper fill level before leaving the lot.

I've been going to Motor City Quick Lube for about 4 years. It is just off Middlebelt, just north of Plymouth. No major problems there and they are cheap, $19. They also have a punch card, the 7th one is free.

I was in Howell MI. just before Thanksgiving. I stopped at BIG RAY'S there. I wanted synthetic oil and a Mobil filter. I payed over $70.00. They brought out Mobil synthetic oil but didn't use it,instead they pumped it in from another sorce. When I got home I did not have a Mobil filter. I crawled under my truck and saw that they had put a off brand not for synthetic oil on . They put a Champ oil filter. I called them back they treated me like an idiot. They acted like i did'nt Know what I was talking about. They told me to go to the Wixom Store. After I drove there the same guy was there that was at the Howell store the manager. One of the other men at Big Ray's was butting in and very rude. I talked to the manager. The manager said he is not responsible for what his men do. They did not do anything but screw me. Please buyer be ware. The Elderly , Women and everone else is getting ripped off from Big Ray's Quicklube.DO NOT SHOP THERE 11-2009

Ok, here’s my experience with Big Ray’s quick lube in Howell.
First I went there on 8/9/09, then I went again on 11/20/09. The two times I went reveiled to me some very interesting observations, which has led me to write this review of them. My conclusion and recommendation regarding their business, is that they are snake oil salesmen, and I would absolutely tell everyone I know not to go there. Ok, so here’s what happened. I went on 8/9/09, right away they come across like theyyou’re your car expert advocates and continually call me “BOSS”, sure whatever. Within 5 minutes of pulling into the garage, they pulled out the dip stick and show me that my dip stick is dry, and tell me that my oil is low, and that it must be burning oil. They recommend they try to sell me an engine flush, and high mileage oil (synthetic). I was skeptical, because previous places had told me the car was in great shape. So, I tell them to skip the synthetic, but they said to get the “lucas” flush for the engine, I say,“nah”, I don’t think I need it, but they guy says that instead of charging 19.95, he’ll give it to me for 9.95, at which I reluctantly agree. But I still don’t go for the synthetic oil.
So, on 11/20/09, right before I decide to get my oil change, my car had been sitting in my home garage for about 2 hours after I got home from work, and before I decide to get my oil changed again. I check the oil on my dip stick right before. I look and see the oil is right where it is supposed to be. So, I drive, the 3 or 4 miles it takes to get to Big Rays, and pull in. Again, with the “Boss” treatment, then I pop the hood, they pull out this dip stick, and POOF, the big ray’s employee shows me there is now no oil on the dip stick, telling me the same spiel that my engine is burning oil…blah, blah, blah. In the time between my house and the Big Ray’s garage, I burned all my oil, WOW. Hmmm. So then I say to them “I checked the dip stick right before I left my house. And it was fine”. They say,“well, was the engine running or was it hot”?“No it had been sitting for an hour”. I say. Well it must not have cooled down completely they say. At this point, they say “Well come see for yourself” I step out and sure enough they put in the dip stick, and pull it out. It’s dry.
This confirms exactly what I thought the first time I had gone there. In between the time that we were exchanging the “Boss” pleasantries, and the time I popped the hood, they drained the oil from my car. Because there is no way my oil was ok at the house, and now it was gone.

So after looking at the dry dip stick I get in my car, they ask if I want to get the synthetic, I say nope, I’m fine. To which I get “Whatever floats your boat”.

I’ll tell you all what floats my boat. What floats my boat is that I’m never going to big ray’s again. And I’ll tell all my friends and family not to go there. And I’ll pray that people quit going there. And that BIG RAY’s goes out of business!

THAT’S WHAT FLOATS MY BOAT!

My daughter took our car to the Big Ray's Quick Lube in Howell yesterday (1/20/10). Specifically told them 'just the basic oil change'. They started talking to her about upgrading her oil - she said 'no, thanks, just the basic oil change'(as I instructed her to do - and I've never had a problem elsewhere....).... then, later on they tell her the filter is dirty. She tells them again that she was told to just get the basic oil change. A mechanic with a heavy accent comes over and talks to her about the filter -- she tells me that she couldn't understand him and says she finally said ok because they wouldn't leave her alone about it and she was confused at that point. THis basic oil change ended up costing her $55.54 !!!
They charged her $5 for different oil. THen charged her $3.50 for an extra quart (that this car has never needed in the 3 years I've owned it). Then charged her $20 for a new filter.
Unfriggin' believable! I went in this morning to speak to the manager - to explain that his employees obviously took advantage of a naive teenage girl. And what happens? They laughed at me. Said that she received those services so I wasn't getting any money back.
I am off to Michigan's Attorney General and Michigan Bureau of Automotive Regulation and the Better Business Bureau.

RE; Big Rays in Howell, tried to sell services not needed. Upgrade etc (different from the last 3 oil changes anywhere) they spent a lot of time telling me what I was doing wrong and after that the "Service Check List" that said they had performed services was checked with only 2 of 17 things.(after reading the other comments I don't know if a new filter was put on). Stick with a dealer or do it yourself.

I recently got my oil change at this place and was subjected to the usual sales pitch about everything my car needs. Disregarded this info and just got the oil change. Checked the oil a couple of days later and found there was twice as much oil as needed. Took it back expected that they would change the oil out given that the old oil was likely left in, but they refused. When I demanded the attendant became verbally abusive and physically threatening. Not wanting to get into a fight over an oil change I dropped it. Needless to say I would avoid this place at all costs!!!

The worst experience of my life. They had a sign for $16.95 for oil change. The guy told me that my 2010 Focus had to use a synthetic oil. Since I didn't know better, I said ok. He never told me the price until I had to pay and then charged me $37.09. He didn't even check my other fluid levels. For all I know, who knows what kind of oil he even put in. I'm reporting him to the BBB. Don't give them your business!

to everybody that has a new ford car !!!!!!! read your owners manual!!!!! pay attention very carefully, your ford vehicle requires a SYNTHETIC BLEND oil. do your homework.we are not here to up sell we are simply trying to do the right thing. think about this, standard oil is crude oil filtered from the ground your not suppose to use that oil for newer vehicles because its only good for 212 degrees. newer cars run 220 and up. thank you for your time and understanding our purpose.
