Mich. lawmakers want to require police chiefs to be certified as officers

State Sens. Virgil Smith and Coleman Young, Jr., both Detroit Democrats, began working on the proposed legislation Tuesday, following news that Detroit Police Chief James Craig has not been certified as an officer in Michigan.

Not only is Craig not certified as an officer, he does not have a permit to carry a gun. He did not in Cincinnatti either. He seems to have some special reason not to answer the required questions. What is he hiding?
