Notice that the LDS church had to plaster it's name on the materials donated.

Next time I donate clothes to the DI I'll be sure to stitch/sew the fact that a Jew donated the article(s).

The Salvation Army is a religion, a church, which operates thrift stores thrift stores nationwide. The D.I. (Deseret Industries) is also a thrift store, owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, here in the east there are no D.I. stores. That The Church of Jesus Christ, more particularly its local congregations, is donating quality goods to another church is noteworthy and in keeping with true Judeo-Christian brotherhood. If the local synagogue wants to make a similar donation, I'm sure the Salvation Army would be glad to make a similar press release.

True my friend.

Do you think those Jewish congregations will include a big plastic wrap with the synagogue name on it and a Tanakh?

Do you think the local Jewish synagogue will go 'round seeking new members?

I doubt it.

Hmmmmm.....

It sounds like D.I. needs donations. Why don't the Jewish congregations donate some yarmulkes and menorahs, the Catholics donate crucifixes, thuribles and sacramental wine, and Lutherans donate more crosses, copies of Luther's Small Catechism, the Methodists can donate Wesley's Bible, and the televangelists like Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Jimmy Swaggart, Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn, and Kenneth Copeland should donate CDs, Video Tapes, and DVDs of their programs, sermons and Camp Meetings. Also, include things that followers of Joseph Smith could use, such as bicycle helmets or tie clasps with Stars of David, crucifixes or denominational logos, Don't forget, that the Jews should put prominent Stars of David on everything they donate, the Catholics should make sure that either a crucifix or the Pope's Coat of Arms is on everything they donate, and the other Protestant churches should include their logos or advertisements as well, including where to call if the Mormons who see the merchandise would like to receive a free copy of the Protestant/Catholic Bible and/or a visit from one of their representatives in their home. Be sure to accompany all of this with a big PR campaign complete with radio, television, internet and cable infomercials.

I have lost all faith in organized religion. Corruption, politics and less than "faithful" behavior makes things quite smelly....

I quite agree. Even their philanthropic activities these days seem to have an ulterior PR motive around them - read "see how goody-goody we are," even as they crush underfoot those who don't fit their ideal. There's a good AIDS charity that operates thrift stores in the Chicago area that gets my own charitable donations before I'd ever give them to the Salvation Army or any other religion.

That's right.

Because there's absolutely no difference between a label identifying the source on the *packaging* and individual labels sewn onto each item.

What a truly "beautiful" comment. Was there ever a brown-shirted thug that hated Jews as much as you hate Latter-day Saints?

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Virgo

Home is where your heart is, so stay there today if you can. Surround yourself with your loved ones, even if you're all slumped on the sofa in front of the TV. If you love cooking, you'll get sweet satisfaction from shutting yourself in the kitchen, and either producing a delicious meal or creating some Christmas food that can live in the freezer till you need it.
