One of the most beautiful aspects of life is the relationship and love between a mother and child. The only thing I received from my mother was an addiction to gambling. As a baby to adulthood I was raised around gambling. During these frequent card games for money there was filthy language used, arguing, and fighting. I could play a hand of poker at the age of five -- Linda Sommer Farley

Synopsis:
Linda tells us what life was like for her growing up. She shares with us the trauma of having an abusive grandfather and a mother with a gambling addiction and how it effected her throughout her life. She expresses her embarrassment of growing up poor and the challenges she faced through out her school years due to her poverty. She wrote this book with the purest of intentions - to help others.

This book is available at: Amazon.com , Barnes & Noble.com , Collinsbooks.com .au,Target.com ,
TextbooksRus.com , and can also be ordered at Barnes & Noble and Borders Express Book Stores.

This book opened my eyes to gambling addiction and abuse. It also made me think of how I treated people. It is easy to read which was a plus for me.

I think that there are ignorant people who gamble and make it less than enjoyable. There is one powerful word NO. Use it. Children should not have to listen to this bickering described but children are innocent. Gambling is a recreational thing and some people are good at it and some people just have no buisness even trying it.

Gambling is much like a drug addiction,I wish it could be turned around to show how someone got off drugs.

I did enjoy the book - A Childhood Taken Away by a Mother and Grandfather. The author's dad loved her and I hope she realizes that. Her mother and Grandfather were down right cruel and selfish!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
