February trial set in Tulare murder case

The jury trial for a Garden City, N.Y., man accused of killing a Tulare woman and severely wounding her husband during a home burglary in July 2006 has been set for early next year.

i am stacey lynn mckinney's sister and i was wondering why the tulare police department has not conducted a full investigation on her husband, andrew mckinney. It sounds kinda funny and impossible that fausto basso had this sawed off shotgun and pepperspray, as well as a knife that was able to supposedly stab andrew with. Then Basso was supposedly able to get his throat cut, practically from ear to ear and run, from the scene, drive himself to the hospital, and pass out. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds a little fishy to me.

I agree with the comments below. I've followed this story since day one and all accounts I've seen so far just do not make sense and are very questionable in my opinion. It's very possible that the Tulare Police Department simply halted its investigation and made a simple, easy conclusion to avoid further time and money spent. Something should be done about this.

I'm someone that is familiar with all parties involved. I doubt that you somehow decided to read a California newspaper and found out about this story. You're someone that knows of one of the parties involved and you do your daily google search to find out the latest news. Happy searching.

i just talked to the prosecution yesturday and this was the first time that they ever interviewed me, except the day after the murder. it's been a almost a year and a half. where were the investigators for the prosecution all this time? they are just starting to look into this case. i appreciate your response. my boyfriend and brother found the murder kit, with all the bullets and cuff ties and baseball bat in it. that was found after the crime scene was closed, right next to the bedroom door where the incident happened. how do you miss something like that?

yes there is reason to believe he was definitely involved in the crime. however, the original target was stacey and andrew's cws worker. dunno what went wrong that night. andrew can't even visit stacey's grave. no one ever seen him shed one tear. he lie more than anyone. how many times can his story change. i know of three so far.

hell yeah, I think her husband had something to do with it. The gun was brought out to murder their Child Welfare Worker for detyaining their children. they were crazy.

Christy. The gun was brought out to murder the Child Welfare Worker? Seems they were crazy because even if they did kill this person the children would still be under custody of Child Welfare services. Why did he want to kill Basso and your sister?

Basso is a con artist to the umpteenth degree. He stole from his parents, stole from his wife and stole from their daughter, who was all of three years old at the time. He conned his entire family and friends into believing he was an attorney, when he never even completed a semester of college. He cheated on his wife with the deceased for a very long time, while the husband knew about it all along. In fact, based on related articles, her husband was her pimp for a while. Don't know if he pimped her to Basso. What possible reason would there have been for her husband to kill her and Basso? How can you put something like this past Basso and pin it all on a moronic, low-life husband? The husband was obviously some kind of a degenerate, but he would have had plenty of chances to kill Basso and his wife – why wait ‘til that night? Basso, on the other hand, according to reports, arrived here from New York no more than 24 hours prior to the incident. Sounds like premeditated stuff to me.

Yes, some of what you say is true, but we ALL know he is not a violent person and does not have a violent past whatsoever.

Also, don't pay too much attention to these constantly inaccurate reports. The actual fact of the matter is that he was there for more than just one day at the time all of this happened. Premeditation? That does not seem likely.

Good point. Premeditation may not be "likely". But, an allegedly non-violent past does not necessarily mean that he was not capable of doing what he is accused of. I'm sure no one thought that he was capable of conning his family, having sexual relations with the victim in full view of his daughter, accusing his wife of unspeakable acts towards their daughter. The press reports to which we refer are not always accurate, but public filings and investigative reports are pretty accurate sources. I'm just astonished that someone would accuse the husband without more, regardless of what a lowlife and degenerate he is. We all may be wrong in our presumptions, when all is said and done. But, one thing is for sure, this character seems to be getting exactly what he deserves for what he had apparently done to others. I think there's a rather well known saying out there about this isn't there?

there is also another well known saying "Innocent until proven guilty" and you shouldn't assume because Basso was a con man that automatically makes him a murderer. you can't believe everything you read in the papers because there are a lot of holes in this story that need to be filled. the husband sounds like a pretty shady character to me and we don't know what he's done in his past so how can you be so quick to blame this on Basso only? obviously you are very biased and can't be objective. thank god you won't be on the jury.
