I just wanted to comment about the drug use in Farmersburg. We moved here about 6 years ago. We were attracted to the quiet, small home town feeling and the safe feeling it had. Well, about 3 years ago, it all changed. The meth and pot use in this town is out of control. I know of one meth maker, and a pot dealer. I have tried to turn them both in, the meth maker lives outside of Farmersburg, he lives out by the mine, he is dealing to the school kids. If they don't have money, he trades stuff for it. I have turned him in many times, but I guess it is too far for the police to drive out and bust him. This town needs to do something about the drug abuse, and they need to do something NOW!!!!! We don't have enough police officers to crack down on them, we have Woody, he does the best he can, with what little he has. We need to get more police officers, and maybe a hotline to call, and maybe the sheriff's office can actually go and check it out when we call. I know most of the kids in the high school is using drugs. One year you had the right idea, drug test them, but you made the mistake of putting it on the news the night before. The drug users stayed home that day, they were so happy they did't "find" any drugs, well, DUHHH! They were all home...test them again, don't tell anyone they are being tested, and test them all. You will find I am right. This is become a HUGE problem here in Farmersburg. The other counties around us are doing something about it, and the users are coming here, because they can make it and deal in it and no one ever knows any thing is wrong. We need more police, we need a hot line that we can call to report them, and we need cops that actually go out and invesigate and arrest them. The guy making meth out by the mine, he NEEDS to be stopped. I have tried to call about him, only to be frustrated by no one going out to check. Wake up Farmersburg, you need to take back your town and stop them from coming here. This town is mainly older folks, they don't know what is going on, well it's time you started paying attention, put these people behind bars, stop them now. As for us, we are going to put our house up for sale and get the hell out of here. It's not safe here, the drugs have ruined it for all..........

What were you doing for the first three years you lived here? Because three years ago most of us "Meth makers" were already locked up, but SIX years ago things around here were FULL BLOWN!! Maybe you SHOULD move the hell out of here though, because NOW we are all slowly getting out of prison, having served our time and payed our debt to society. Good riddence, Beck!

I think you need to look up that last post and have something done with that kind of threat that he is sending to those that feel that the meth and other drug deals need to be snuff out and NOW not later coz there is another down there at Farmersburg and he and his family think they can do as they please with this dealing and the law there won't do a thing to them.
Stand together and keep fighting to get this and those out of your town before all is stolen and children are forever scarred by this way of life.

Good luck. If you tried, you would have a war right here. There's way too many of them.

Of course it is! There's not a town in America where drug use isn't going on!

I live there and my husband has lived there for 25 years, and we dont have a problem with the drug users. We stick to ourselves and local people (family) that we know. Not all of the people in farmersburg are drug heads and it is a nice place to live.

I am not sure where anyone gets off stating that shelburn is full of drug users. I think alot of you THINK there are alot of users, based on appearance of people. Of course, I am sure there are a few, but to back up the guy above on giving folks second chances, YES people do change. You cant judge someone for mistakes they have made. YOu wanna judge someone, lets talk about the drunks in this area. There are more drunks in shelburn, farmersburg and hymera that definately outweigh drug users in this community. So you few above, you probably are drinkers who drink more then any EXX drug user ever did drugs. Should we run you out of town? God, i would rather run some of the drunks out and avoid getting hit head on, then mess with any marijuana smoker or occasional meth user anyday! Just dont be so quick to judge.

I didn't see where anyone said anything about Shelburn being full of drug users.... The whole county is full of drug users. They are constantly in and out of jail and prison. About 5% of meth addicts continue to stay clean once they stop. That's a very small percentage, but I applaud those who do. People need to wake up and realize that meth is a huge problem everywhere not just here. We need to get more people committed to helping addicts reform once they are released from jail or prison. The Luke House is a wonderful place. Sullivan County has needed it for years! Wake up people! Stop ignoring the problem!
