More Mexicans leaving U.S. under duress

Full story: www.dallasnews.com

Two hours were enough for José Luis Sánchez and his family to pack their most valuable belongings in two vans – items accumulated in 10 years of living in the Dallas area. With his wife, children and their suitcases in place, Mr. Sánchez closed the door of his Mesquite apartment for the last time, sat at the wheel of one of the vehicles – his brother drove the other – and hit the road back to his homeland. So ended his decade-long adventure as an illegal Mexican immigrant in the United States. According to Mexican consulate officials in Dallas, some 400 immigrant families have told them so far this year that they're going back to Mexico and asked for transfer documents to enroll their children in Mexican schools. Enrique Hubbard Urrea, Mexican consul general in Dallas, said it is impossible to track every Mexican who leaves the area. But he said the number asking for transfer documents at the consulate is on the rise. In 2005, the consulate issued 162 such documents; in 2006 it was 199; and last year it was 270. At the current rate, more than twice as many people will leave this year as last, he said. "There is no doubt the trend indicates that the number is growing," Mr. Hubbard said. And it isn't happening only in Dallas. At the Mexican consulates in Chicago and Phoenix, too, the number of Mexican families applying for transfer documents for their children has increased. So far in 2008, more people (752) have visited the Mexican consulate in Phoenix to apply for transfer documents than the total for 2006 (248) and 2007 (330) combined, according to officials there. According to informal surveys by the Mexican consulate in Dallas, most of those wanting to return to Mexico cite the sudden scarcity of jobs, fear of deportation and uncertainty about obtaining legal resident status any time soon.

Good...it's better illegal alien Mexicans leaving the USA under "duress" than U.S. citizens subsidizing their illegal presence here "UNDER DURESS."

So I guess this opens up loads of job opportunities for Americans anxious to work as roofers, janitors, fry cooks and vegetable pickers?

I don't know how old you are but if you remember back these jobs use to be the American middle class. As for the vegetable pickers the farmers will have to improve the working conditions for people to work there. Hungry people will work for food. Yes the prices will go up some, but we'll have less E coli outbreaks in our vegetables with improved sanitary conditions.

That's right! Maybe now the career "Welfare" parasites will not be able to sit on their lazy a$$e$ and just collect a check. For those that are "legitimately" on Welfare, this does apply to you. The career bumms can still collect their subsidies, but my god...Make them at least do something for it!

Roofers and janitors make good money, what are YOU talking about?

Remember, for every worker out there doing something they may not like, there's one wishing they could move up. For some, becoming a roofer or a janitor would be a step up!

I agree! Put them in the fields or just have them help clean up their neighborhood. Just about everyone can do something. Prisoners should also be put in the fields. We do not lack labor in this country.

Oh, believe me, it's going to take a lot more than have just left, and the anchor babies are reproducing already at a blinding rate. With the 2nd generation of parasites still having a 68% dropout rate, there is not reason to believe we're going to be lacking teachers, accountants, and financial advisors because they were needed in the field to pick lettuce.

The poor will always be with you, because the stupid are always among us. You can't educate the moron out of about half of the population, so don't lament the new vacancy left by our illegal aliens' embarking on their southern sojourn.

Celebrate, rather, the opportunity to forcefully remove some baby factories from the welfare rolls, and the education opportunities presented to young people that may have had trouble finding those summer employment positions.

This is a small step in the right direction of 600 mile walk...straight to Guadalajara!

I just sent this topic to Joyce Kaufman, Lou, Beck, OReilly, and Michael Savage

Joyce, the public needs to be made aware of how their tax dollars are being spent. Barney Frank earmarked 15 mill for Laraza and look what they're doing with it.

Oh boo hoo...they are under such duress...did they give a fig about the duress they caused the Americans whose jobs they stole? Did they care about the duress that classroom teachers felt in their over-crowded classes when illegals' kids started streaming in? Did they care about the undue stress and duress the taxpayers felt when they saw money leaving their pockets and going into illegals' hands? I don't give a whit about these opportunist leeches and their purported duress. They made bad choices, of which there were consequences...they thought they were above our laws, and they thought wrong. Good riddance.

Poor Jose, these people are their own worst enemies, if you cannot afford to feed, then don't breed. I have no sympathy for people that ignorant and selfish who are constantly playing like they are the ultimate victims. Oh that's too bad, buh bye.

Oops! That was me, ranting at the boneheads we have over here who refuse to do anything about the illegal situation. Martinez and Nelson won't sign the SAVE Act (nor will they respond to the question of WHY), and Klein, while he's signed the SAVE Act, refuses to sign the Discharge Petition and refuses to answer WHY, instead sending responses about the fact that he's signed the SAVE Act.

We know where that breeding family is -- in California -- so why are they still here? Enforce the damn laws already!
