this is a tough one. I see how someone can encourage someone to do something and that can persuade someone but at the end of the day he didnt actually push them off the bridge.
Someone can tell me all day that stealing is good and that I should do it but if I go and do it, can I blame the person who told me I should steal?

Either way its sad but seriously how can you determine if his actions actually caused that final step? Maybe the person did it because someone didn't call them that day or watched a sad movie. Do we then charge the producer of the movie since the movie resulted in depressing thoughts and really affected a person was already thinking suicidal thoughts?

Either way the guy is scum, but can't put all the blame on him.

My heart breaks reading this story. I have never been one that gets too meloncoly (sp????) when folks, older adults commit suicide. That is, I think the reasons and the person is very complex and we can't capsulize the reasons why this happens. I believe those folks intent on committing suicide probably do so with great thought and loss of hope. But man oh man, when you get someone like this guy who even suggests to another living human being, that suicide is a good option, he ought to go somewhere for a very long time and spend the rest of his life helping hopeless people. Then and only then will he learn. Tears, tears, tears.

You are right this guy is scum. But this gal was only 18 years old. Her frontal lobe wasn't even fully developed, yet alone other life experiences for her to call upon which would have persuaded her not to end her life. That have given her hope. If she were 40, then and only maybe then, could you say what you have said.
