This person wears a collar, and in TEC, when they go, they don't often come back.

People quit their jobs all the time.

They will still gladly collect their retirement checks from the 'company' they quit.

Romans still believe someone with a collar is holier than someone without one.

Sad..........

So being a priest is just another job?

But this priest didn't quit: he changed employers!

Yep, clergy get hired and fired by their congregation.

I know that's a foreign concept for romans who think God assigns positions (not political reasons - really -LOL) but most people hire and fire.

You still think your clergy is a higher, holier calling then any other vocation.

Still sad, especially with the crimes against innocents.

As someone from the Roman Catholic Church (Romans are those Italians who are born in Rome) I know first hand that those who are priests are in no way holier than anyone else in the Church. Any priest who is worth anything in their ministry know this also. Have I met those who believe themselves to be above the rest of us, definately and I give them wide berth to be sure.

It is a job.

It is a very specialized job requiring an advanced degree and other special training.

He remains a paid 'Christian' professional that now works for Vatican Inc.

Then, why all the Hosannas when Cutie went TEC?

A couple of TEC people on another thread are geeked up for his new TV talk show.

So you see ministry as a career and not a calling by God. Interesting if this is the case.

Roman Catholic.

Romans are not the only catholics.

If this is an inappropriate name perhaps you should be called Vatican Catholics, but for 100's of years your church has been fine with the title roman.

I'm glad you have more sense than most of them AND give your concerns a voice..........

Why can't it be both, for all people?

Don't romans consider all jobs in life vocations?

Is one holier than another?

Is a man with a collar holier than the doctor in an ER?

Hmmm, seems you can't quite decide which it is.......

I am glad you find it interesting. You should also note that Christ Jesus did not establish a formal priesthood. He was not a Levite and therefore not even a candidate for the priesthood of His own faith tradition.

Jesus of Nazareth's career was a 'tekton' in the secular world.
He was referred to as a Rabbi by some and that was not a paid job for Him.
