What about trying to run up the middle when a sweep would have sent them right in the end zone?
Surely one of the 10 coaches standing on the side lines noticed that.
Oh well, we live and learn from our mistakes.

there are so many problems with the MMN squad, but to me it all boils down to David Stone. His play calling makes no sense to anyone, including the other coaches on the sidelines. Throwing the ball against Mt. Holly was stupid (and the kids were blammed for that loss at the next practice), and his running up the middle against the Dolphins was just as bad. Bradley was having a lot of success on the edges and they just stopped doing it. The defensive coach looks lost out there also. There is only one coach on this team that actually knows how to motivate these boys and they don't use him for anything except leading excersize drills. Stanley was the best team in the league a couple years ago and they are loosing players left and right and its all because the coaches have NO CLUE what they are doing. Not much else to say. They have the talent on this team to play with anyone in the league, but until the coaches figure out how to use it, this will keep happening week after week.
please help

Only one of the coaches has a kid playing on the team and he does not coach the offense or defense. You people are crazy. No wonder last year's coach took his kid and left. Those guys do a good job. Between them they have probably only lost 4 games in 8 years, not including this year of course. That is a young group for MMN, doing the best they can against older/stronger/faster kids. Cut them all some slack and get on board. Going to be a great team next year, just hope they have some coaches left in the program.

Crazy ... Ummm last years coach did not take his kid and leave. He was thrown out of the stanley program for jerking an injured kid up off the field and almost fighting another coach on the sidelines.

bababooie ... I completely agree. I can count multiple kids playing positions they have no business playing.

Wow, you people amaze me!!!
Its so easy to sit up there on the hill and judge these coaches, but not ONE of you could get out there and do a better job.(You might think you can...)
Its really hard to say that David Stone is a bad coach. He is probably one of the best coaches Stanley has ever seen. You can count the games he has ever even lost. This year, he got screwed. He is in charge of an extremely young team, they don't remember plays, they cry the entire practice, I could go on - but DAVID (& ROBERT) are blamed because the team sucks?!?! Seems to me that you parents need to get control of your kids - help them learn their plays, bust their asses if they stand out there and cry over anything and everything. This is football! THERE'S NO CRYING IN FOOTBALL!
David and Robert have been out there coaching for years. Football, baseball, basketball, you name it. And from what I have witnessed, they do a damn good job. But they don't have a chance this year, with the bunch of whiney-ass parents and kids they are dealing with!! Not a chance!
You people need to sit back and understand what the coaches have to deal with out there - they are volunteering their time, trying to come up with strategies to win on Saturday, dealing with all of the politics that goes on within the Stanley Optimist Organization, listening to the parents constantly complain & moan about everything, and try to get these kids to remember a few plays and STOP CRYING the entire practice! There's only so much they can do!!
But I guess you all have already got that figured out and can do such a better job, can't you?????
Please.

u people are the same ones that complained about BR, now about DS, and RM. Maybe its not the coaching, maybe your kid is not that good. It does not matter who coaches, they are low on talent. DS, RM, hang in there, your coaching style has not changed. There is only so much you can do with what you have. Parents to you, get your kids to practice. Watch what you say in your little huddle over behind the fence, cause a mole is going to the other side...

Funny -- Its the same coaches that have been in Stanley year after year, winning game after game. But this season, they get an awful team and are called the worst coaches ever! I don't know why I find that so darn funny!!!!

Keep your heads up, David and Robert! You know that you are not the problem, and that you are supported by tons of people in this organization. You guys are awesome!

(It will NEVER be any fault of the kids playing or the parents, its always going to be someone else's fault. Just wait until basketball or baseball - the same parents will be on here complaining about those coaches, too! I can't wait!! You guys are a great source of daily laughter for me!)

Come on people..It's MIGHTY MITE football!!!Not the NFL!we sometimes forget how young these kids really are.So what if the talent is down just a little. The guys coachjng mmn and mms are GOOD MEN.SG is one of the finest men i know who and he just happens to be a football coach in his spare time because he wants to make a difference in his community and in the lives of these young boys. The kids are still LEARNING football.I dont see any ncaa scouts at the games yet, chill out!

it really gripes my butt that ppl can sit there and talk about kids the way some of you are. THEY ARE KIDS!!!!!!! football is a hard sport and just because some kids cry during practice does not mean that they are baby's. Maybe their desire is there but they here ppl put them down and it makes everything a lot harder on them. it gets in there heads and thats what they think about....not the game. we are supposed to uplift these kids and the ppl that take the time to teach them. lay off.

it is a shame u people can get on here and bash the coaches....sbd has some good coaches...they put in alot of hours with your kids...if they yell at them so what, it makes them better...they need the disipline, because 6 out 10 do not get any...if a kid gets hurt and crys, thats different than crying all the time, they dont want to be out there, but you guys are pushing them...some cry no matter what the sport....coaches u are doing a great job, dont let the low lifes bring u down..

I understand they are only kids, and that football is hard...No one is denying that.
But some of the same kids that sit and cry through football are the same ones that sit and cry through baseball and basketball - you get my point.(And no one on here called them "babies". And unless the parents are letting them read these posts, they shouldn't know what anyone is saying about them! So, it shouldn't hurt their feelings or get in their heads.)
But that is not where anyone is trying to go with this.
The original post was someone trying to blame the coaches for this team losing. MMN has a great group of coaches. Period. These coaches have only lost a handful of games - EVER. None of the parents want to accept the fact that this is a very young team. None of the parents want to make sure their child is learning and studying all of their plays at home. None of the parents want to step in and explain to their kids that every time something doesn't go their way, they don't have to cry and throw a fit over it. Those coaches only have a few hours a week to work with them, and in that time, they are making sure the plays (that the kids SHOULD know) work, and they know how to take and make hits, they know how and when to block, etc.
Everyone wants to get on here and blame the coaches and say its "the worst coaching ever", when thats not the case at all! Those coaches have proven over the years that they are good at what they do - but every year is different, and every team is different. Don't blame the coaches!

I think everybody needs to stop bitching and ask one question.

Are the kids having fun?

That is all that matters. Who gives a crap whether they win or lose? If they are coming away with some knoweledge of the game and can say they had a good time, then there is not a problem. Sure, it is nice to win, but it is like "rukiddnme" said. "It is MIGHTY MIGHT FOOTBALL!!!!"

That is one of the biggest problems with Stanley. Everybody has to base what they did in sports on a win or lose record. Not how much the kids are learning.

Just look at it this way. In 4 months when basketball season is going on; who will be sitting around talking about how many wins or losses a certain football team had? Exactly!!! NOBODY!!! Nobody is going to care about it once the season is done and overwith.

Just let the kids play and enjoy it. Do not ruin it for them by bitching about wins or losses.
