FYI. We've had Skitter TV here in Falls City, Ne for well over a year now. How? We have one of the many streaming devices that are on the market. Skitter TV is available on Roku / Western Digital HD Theater, etc. etc. All Skitter TV is going to be is SNC re-selling the service / with rental hardware along with a service call charge to unsuspecting consumers in Falls City.

If you want Skitter TV without having to pay the middle man, go buy you a Roku at Walmart in Hiawatha, Nebraska City or Saint Jo. Better yet, order one offline and avoid taxes. Surely you can wait 3 - 4 days to get your device.

And while I'm at it. These devices sell for about $80 -$100 and can be used to stream Hulu Plus, Netflix and Skitter TV plus many many other services into your living room. In fact, there is an adult streaming service that gives you thousands and thousands of movies for just $10 a month and yes, right here in Falls City, Ne. If you want to drop cable. This is how everyone is doing it.

To put this into context, this is like your local gas station one day offering that generic tasteless pizza for sale to its customers. This is just another revenue stream for SNC. This is nothing remotely like Time Warner and in the grand scheme of things, nothing exciting or new.

Here are a handful of links you can use to educate yourself with.

http://www.skittertv.com/register/wd.php

I refuse to post adult links but use google and do a search for Videobox Roku if you want more information.

Hope this information helps.

Good grief, Lisa Ann, you must be a very bright person and no fault of your own, but I was lost on this right from the start. I guess I've got some powerful educating to do. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I thought I knew it all, but that was then. Do you have a booklet for dummies?

Actually what the phone company will sell will likely be more than what you describe. They can actually deliver any content including local channels, local content (think city council meetings for an example), and national channels in various packages.

And yes, I suspect the phone company does intend to make some money. Would you open a business with the intention of giving away your product for free?

And if you have any problems with your unit I'm sure Walmart will rush right over to your house and take care of it for you too, won't they???? No??? Well, I bet you that Sentco will if you go through them.

With a name like "Harley" I think you are going to need a lot more help than what a booklet for dummies is going to offer. But, take comfort that you are in or near Falls City and in the good company of other like people.

Handy Dandy, absolutely nothing wrong with making money. But you know what I meant. I was talking about making money off the backs of unsuspecting consumers. I have Skitter TV now and along with a low cost proxy service, enjoy all the local channels now and I didn't need SNC to re-sell me anything.

For about $30 dollars a month I have about the same HD content everyone else in town pays $80 -$120 a month for. Another thing I have is Straight Talk service here in Falls City that again, I only pay $45 a month for unlimited text, calls and data. Everyone else in town pays $100 - 120 for the same service through Verizon.

But the reaction I'm receiving here was to be expected. Local bumpkins always, always resist change, technology, advancements, help, guides, etc. You people are more at home with smart ass comments than appreciation. Why? Cause you are un-cultured and don't know any better. Rest assured, my pocket book with have the last laugh. Write out your checks next month for your cable and phone service. Yours will be $200+. Mine,$75 dollars.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry at you people.

Bob, you're an idiot.

These devices are not any more complicated than a Nintendo Wii. If my 6 year old can turn on the device and watch cartoons. And yes, there are parental locks on the device which I use. Than anyone can use it. Bob, really? Seriously? Do you really need your hand held? Bob, please pay attention here. You're going to be A-O-K I promise with pushing that power button off and on, or adjusting the volume. LMAO. There there Bob, it's going to be O-K /pats Bob on the head.

What a dumb ass idea! This is just another way for the phone company to make money off idiot people. Cable boxes are 100% outdated! All of the new gaming consoles already offer or are going to offer Skitter or something similar in the near future. In the meantime you can just by a cheap device that you can install yourself and have access to the same exact thing!
I mean most new blue-ray players offer Skitter, Helu, Facebook, and tons of other applications.
Why would you pay SNC?
I was really hoping that the city had "maybe" brought another company to town. Or maybe a new place to eat. Sigh, but they did accomplish Skitter TV which is available to everyone everywhere already!
Please people of Falls City, don't get sucked into the reselling of a service you can purchase already.
OMG Skitter TV is here! F - U City Council, F - U Mayor, F - U SNC. Skitter was your big secret? If any of you idiots thought this was new or exciting or that in someway anyone was waiting for this service you are either delusional or a dumbass! It is 2012 Falls City. Wake UP! You DO NOT need SNC for anything anymore. That includes phone service, internet, and Skitter TV!

Straight from the Skitter Website!

Just by Roku and guess what - You can sign up for skitter without SNC!

NEW! Live TV on the WD TV !
WDTV Live Hub

March 1, 2012 - The Skitter app is now available on the WD TV Live and WD TV Live Hub. It is found in the Services tab.

Live TV on my Roku? Yes!

With Skitter you can watch your local television stations through your Roku. If you have problems getting a signal from your nearby stations and do not want to pay for hundreds of channels you dont need, then Skitter is what you have been looking for.

What is Skitter?

Skitter is a system that allows you to watch TV using off-the-shelf set top boxes. What you see on your TV is just the tip of the iceberg. There is a room of equipment in each TV market that makes all this possible. The great thing is you get TV on the same box as the other apps you love!

Why would I want Skitter?

People want Skitter for many different reasons. Here are a few of the reasons we hear all the time:

too far for antenna
antenna not allowed
simpler
less expensive

I have a Roku, how do I add Skitter?

If you already have a Skitter account and just want to load the SkitterTV private channel to your roku...

There are 210 DMAs in the US. It takes time to put the relationships and contracts in place that allows Skitter to deliver TV to you. Skitter TV is currently only available on telephone networks due to technology, regulatory, and legal iss
ues. The regulatory and legal situations in particular are quite complex and beyond Skitter's control. So they rely on partnering up with the local telephone companies in order to provide these TV signals to all of their subscribers. It is quite a process and takes a lot of work to make all of this happen.

That is not how it works. Yes, the SkitterTV *application* is on the Roku and Western digital set-top boxes, but you cant just instantly start streaming. You need an account ID and password in order to log in. This log in information is provided to you by your local telephone company. Your local telephone company is in the process of setting up the Skitter system. If you lived in California, and wanted to watch local streams from New York, it would not happen. It is not legal. Your telephone company pays for the rights to provide these streams to its customers. If anybody that was not in their DMA was receiving service from them, it would be considered stealing. Skitter is not available to anybody at this time. And it costs a lot of money to be able to provide this service to their subscribers.

It's funny that I got my account ID and password directly from Skitter, not my local phone company. I guess you know more about it than me. It is also funny that I am not instantly streaming. Guess I have a "Magic Roku Box" and I am stealing my "non - streaming content" from Skitter...

If anyone here can decide to just listen and let me help you. I would love to save you time and money in this department. I know that in my house hold with 2 kids, every dollar counts. I really am trying to share some great suggestions on ways you really can save money.

Another trick you can use is a proxy service. There are many out they are cheap. What this is is basically high speed servers that are deployed all over the world. It allows you to go into different markets other than your own to sign up for services in those markets. For example. In the UK, they streamed the Olympics in HD 24/7 for free vs here in the US where you had to have NBC who bought those rights. You can also enjoy real cash poker from overseas vs not being able to sign up here in the US. We have our wireless router already config'd for whatever proxy we want to be on and our WD HD Theater Live box doesn't know any different.

If anyone is interested I can also post how to use Straight Talk with full bars here in Falls City or anywhere else. And no, you don't have to use their cheap phones. You can use your own Android or even new Apple iPhone 4S.

Who Cares, STFU. Don't be so fucking blind. First off, I made a general post that had absolutely nothing to do with be rude or being a bitch.

Now, after I had a few people reply back in rude and sarcastic overtones, you're damn right I became a bitch.

And are you surprised? 90% of the people that come here attack one another. You're doing the same and god only knows I love people that start shit. So it's a given if you run your mouth, I'm going to turn into super bitch.

And you're damn right your a bumpkin, it's written all over your reply. Trust me, you're not fooling a nyone, anonymously or in person, no doubt people generally are feel annoyed around you. You're too uncultured to know when you shouldn't run your mouth. You know the old saying that goes "if you don't have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all?" That's not you.

Here's more proof that probably have a GED or High School diploma and no formal schooling. 1, your attitude. 2, total obvious to what's in front of your face. Case in point, very clearly I was happy and excited to share the news I shared. Yes I am content with the more than $100 in savings I enjoy over the majority of people in this town each month. But, and this is the part where you're dumb, you didn't see the value in the information I was sharing, you only saw a chance to attack me. I really hope you do not have kids or a role model around other young people. Can you imagine the negativity you put on others from you just being present? I can, and how horrible that must be. Another glaring red flag is that for whatever selfish personal reasons or agenda you have or lack there of, of any restraint, kindness or understanding, you lashed out at me knowing full well that other people had attacked me first. Yeah, posts 2, 3, 4 etc. If you need a little direction since you seem dense, go back and re-read from start to bottom, idiot.

I mean, do I really have to continue on how obvious to everyone here that you are pretty fucking dumb?

Go Lisa Go, You go girl. I hear you loud and clear. Would be interested in learning more from you as I'm always interested in "saving a buck". Just dont take the time to educate myself in this area. Not high on my priority list. In the mean time will continue enjoying you dealing with the "simpletons".
