Ummmm, you are completely right about helping out the smal business person. But do you remember the fiasco with Vantec? How many jobs were they supposed to create and how many workers were they supposed to keep by what a year or so and the city would forgive their loan. You can see where that went. So who repays that? I also heard that they deep their thermostat set in the 70s year round for that huge building, do you think they pay for that whole bill. I doubt it. This is another problem with our town. Help out the small person if they have a dream of starting a business. We need new council people who can actually think for themselves.
Vantec keeps their plant at a constant temperature because their equipment requires it. They pay their own utility bill.

Point taken. That is one rumor that is cleared up. Thank you. What exactly do they make there?

Has anyone read the Sez I in the Journal? Ruth has an excellent point about the rollin blackout. If we didn't have enugh power then how will we have enough when CGB hook onto it? Who will pay for new and bigger generators, the little man? Do they really realize what the costs will be for the gas, water, sewer, electricity and the roads? It seems the council won't talk about these costs. Why are they pushing so hard and fast to get it through?

We had rolling black outs because OPPD had power lines go down and there was an outage and FC was providing all the power to town on its own. It had nothing to do with inadequate power, but OPPD's power lines going down.

That is true but will those generators be able to keep up with the added burden of a business that big? I doubt it, then comes the question of who pays for the new ones? We seem to have alot of money to give away or loan out.

There is plenty of power available for CGB and all of us. Nothing to worry about there. Do you really think they'd build here if there wasn't enough power.

Of course they would. We would just buy bigger and newer generators. Add that to the $975,000. I still question why all the secrecy in the begining. This was decided before the public hardly even knew about it.

OPPD supplies all the power we need, our generators are for emergency back up situations.

What part of this are you not getting? Do you even understand the power situation or are you just parroting what Leon says?

Well we will just wait awhile and see what happens. Maybe you are right but then maybe I am. You know this isn'at really about the power situation but CGB. Evidently you were in on the ground floor of the deal. Why are they pushing so hard and fast?

I'm not going to read all of the posts about this subject. I just want to point something out. People are bitching about this "foreign company". Guess who VANTEC builds parts for? Guess where some of the airlines WASP makes stuff for are from? OMG, not foreign companies?!?!?!?! Geat over it people. And also, get a Wal-Mart too. Oh, I guess it's too late for that.

I would love a Walmart here. They want you to shop in Falls City but where? It's not even so much that it is a foreign company(I'm not thrilled with that) but the fact that the council is not thinking of everyone else it will hurt. We also have a pharmacy now tht is owned by people who don't speak English very well. When you go to the pharmacy with a question about your medicine, or about your childs, wiouldn't you like to understand what they are telling you? I refuse to learn another language to help them out. I know, that is cold-hearted but ???? I also heard a rumor that Hy Vee is checking F.C. out.

For starters, CGB was doing about a years worth of research in Falls City without anyone knowing it. They approached the city with all their ducks in a row, that's why it can happen so fast. We have a company that has done their homework, are highly motivated, organized and financial sound. That sounds like a company we need here.

Who's fault is it that the pharmacy is owned by somebody else? Those who sold it.

let's see, I take it maybe you were in on this venture. Maybe they had their ducks in a row but it was still very secretive. If they are so aboveboard it should have been in the Journal so eveyone knew what was going on instead of forced down our throats.

I wasn't in on it, but I have talked to the principles involved after the fact.

What you don't realize is that if CGB doesn't build it here, somebody else will build it near Hiawatha and the truck drivers and elevators are in the same boat and Falls City loses future tax revenue.

This is a good company and we are lucky to have them.

Ok am I wrong or did I hear that somehow they get the taxes they pay in back for 15 years? To me that doesn't sound like such a great deal for the cities future tax revenue.

Many of you are bitching about the "secrecy" of this new business. Let's see...do we require any other businesses in Falls City to publicly display their business plans? Do we require our citizens to reveal their business and financial information for all to peruse? The simple answer is "NO!!". Get real, people: If the City required a public examination of prospects we would never be able to recruit anyone. Look up "Confidentiality Agreement" in the dictionary. They exist for a reason. Hats off to all of the locals who worked hard to bring this entity to Falls City. New dollars coming in and being spent in our community are always a good thing.

Who cares? The people who own the elevators can go live or suck on there wealthy government subsidized farm family. They can take there big trucks and suvs and live in the real world. They can move away and pay there own bills from the job they got on there own. They can quit bashing obama on facebook. Do they need to be reminded how much there family has received since 1995 in gov subs ? Who granted the land your elevator sits on ? How about the land your new house sits on ? GO suck or leach in every direction you can. You take from me. I will Bless who takes from you.
