Does anyone here remember old Greg Mooney with his double testicular hernias? They were the size of basketballs and little kids asked a lot of questions. Teenagers drove by his house down on the southside and yelled out of car windows at him and he cursed everyone. I heard long before he died people tried to get a fund together to pay for surgery and he refused. Then there were two old guys who pulled each other around in toy wagons for years. I think they were window lickers. Me and my cousins (you know who you are) harrassed Harold Gurske (sic). We were all brats like sitting up a dead racoon on the highway east of town. It was all gross and bloated but as karma would have it that night as her Mom was driving us home from the softball game she hit instead of some other poor fool and and the smell was enough to gag a maggot. It took a week to get the roadkill off her Moms car.

The little candy store behind the Central School was owned by the Ramsey family I think. I only remember Dennis and Dave? I'm not sure if Dave was in the same family or not. Paul Mick owned the store at 9th and Stone. Someone post if this is not correct.

Was just going through pictures, letters and post cards from my Aunts' estate, one of whom was born in Falls City in 1913. We noted that letters from outside the city only had the person's name and Falls City as an address. If it was mailed from within the town, it just said, "city" or "town" and the person's name. Guess life was easier back then.

sounds like you may have had the wrong crowd of friends or neighborhood b/c i am from here and it is ALOT safer than Omaha or any big city so where you live now is ALOT better for you? does your family still live here or do you have no excuse or desire to ever call Falls City home again?

I grew up in a little town called Barada. Perhaps you all have heard of it. We had the best times there. Man what memories. But I won't share any. I wanna keep them to myself.

Heavens..... I was a toddler but I remember it. I think chicken was 5 cent a pound something like that. There is a little grocery store where I live now that reminds me of that.

The best summers of my life were spent in FC during 1970,71 and 72. Does anyone have any memories to share of that? I was dating Kevin B. who went to high school at Sacred Heart. It's over 30 years later and I'm still in love with him. I moved away and so did he! I know.... time to get over it! I often wonder what happened to everyone who was around then. I know some of them are deceased like my friend Doug W.

I went to SH and graduated in '76. What fun we had in those days. We went to Morril, KS on the weekends cause we had some boys we chased there.
I remember Whitten's market. Mickey Piper worked behind the candy counter and got so tired of us.
Summers spent at the pool and the big strips of taffy you would buy at the snack shop.

I thought it was a Humm that owned it then and was always on roller skates. I remember my aunt told me that a kid tried to steal some stuff from him and he ran him down on his roller skates, made him give the stuff back, and then called his parents. That's when it was still the "it takes a village to raise a child" mentality. I would love to have grown up here when my grandparents did. The stories my grandpa has told me....
