Prescription drugs found at shooting scene

Three prescriptions for anti-depressant medication were found at a home where a Fallon teen allegedly shot and killed her step-mother March 5, according to court documents.

Many random killings and acts of violence have, as a basis of the crime, a sudden shift in the demeanour of the assailant, date coincident with the taking of prescription anti-depressants.

This,in itself, should be on the front page of every paper in the land.

If she was being treated for a mood disorder with Topamax, which is an anticonvulsant then it could well have been bipolar disorder. Antidepressants can lead to a dysphoric mania if used in the absence of or too little of a mood stabilizer such as Topamax. I do pretty well on a low dose of Depakote for mine, but when I combined a small dose of Prozac, I still felt really aggressive to the point where I had to stop taking it. That or I was going to start my own fight club! This doesn't excuse her behaivor, but it can be the thing that causes a small argument to push someone over that slippery slope.

I think there is a small correlation with psychiatric drugs and behavior, especially when starting them or 'cocktails' can cause increased agitation to send someone over the edge. Although there are millions of people that have taken or taken them that didn't do anything out of order. I think its more to the fact that the person was unstable to begin with and hence them taking meds to control the symptoms. . The shooter at Virgina Tech was not under any influence of drugs at the time of the murders (based on toxicology reports).

Its a tradegy that this poor girl had a psycotic spell and its a tradegy that someone had to die. I am very paranoid about being on my przac for this reason
