The city of Fernley gets what it deserves.

The deep burrowing of soils by gophers is typical, what isn't is letting gophers get so out of control that the entire foundation of a embankment, hillside, dam, irrigation ditch or canal gives way. Gophers will tunnel straight through soils, not paying attention to depth or distance. If a small amount of water is introduced into an active or abandoned tunnel, the water will quickly find a way through to the other side. Erosion happens when gophers are combined with soil and any amount of water this is a fact.

The solution is simple - trap them so they are dead, once and for all. Chemicals, poisons, baits, flammables and of course water, will not work to kill gophers. A gopher's sense of smell is so keen that by the time you start introducing anything into their closed tunneling system, they've already sealed off the tunnel and moved into another area. The only true method of killing gophers is to trap them. The trick is to kill all of the pregnant females first to stop the population increase, then follow up with the rest. You can't go at a gopher casually, especially in a situation such as this, you must go in with several specialists with several hundred traps and wipe them out as fast as possible. We would be happy to assist them or any other community that has gopher problems. Trapping gophers is our specialty!

It's unfortunate that this community had to endure such a mess.

Fernley, commonly known as "Ferntucky" is the worst place I have ever lived. The local government is corrupt and controlled by greedy developers and local "good 'ol boys and gals." The city is a total mess. Traffic is poorly routed, there are no decent restaurants, the schools are bad. There is no local recreation. Attend a City council meeting just once to learn what a disgusting mess the City really is.... We will be leaving as soon as is possible.

I just was through there and it did not seem that bad to me. I had a good meal in on of the eating places. I would not say the town is super duper but it was not bad.
