Cantaloupe Festival: Bumper crop of melons ready for 2012 festival
#1 Sep 6, 2012
RE: cantaloupe Festival
Recently attended the festival and was very disappointed. The bumper crop of melons must have gotten lost in transit!!! The only thing I saw was one stand from Lattin farms that had a few tomatoes and some Tuscan melons. While the tuscans are flavorful, they do not compare with the Heart of golds, of which I saw none!!!We drove all the way from Yerington, to enjoy the day, and get some heart of golds, but left and bought heart of golds at a roadside stand and went home. Sorry to say that our $4.00 entry fee per person was considered to be a total waste, as we had lunch in town.
I think the fair board, or who ever is in charge of that function needs to have a heads up, as we will never attend again. WE will go to Fallon, but will get our melons at the same stand as before!
