So, Officer or Deputy, Kuhn was in the wrong as he shot into a group of people and towards a home he had no business being at. He not only murdered this dog, he put the rest of the family and that community at risk for their lives. He needs to be removed from the streets as he's failing in his oath to protect and serve. *** dont assume read the report ***

So does that make the other 33% bad also? It's just like "Bad Cops". What does your statistics say about them?

too many people are afraid of 4 legged animals, armed only with teeth. The dangerous ones are the violent sociopaths armed with badges, guns and a desire to have people respect their authority. The penalty for killing this dog should be the live of the jack booted thug. Gonna keep an eye out for cops named Kuhn.

Those dogs have tried to attack numerous people over the past 2 years and has been an ongoing issue, its sad it had to go down that way, but something worse could have happnened eventually if the dog mauled someone, people have been living in fear in the neighborhood, being chased and harrassed by this dog, show dog or not. I am a huge animal lover, but that dog was not stable, and had the propencity to eventually kill someone. Sure, maybe the dog was nice at times, but I have seen this dog in action along with many other neighbors, and it was not a stable animal. As far as for who was in the right or wrong, thats for the law to figure out, all I know is that dog was viscious in nature on past occassions. Hey, come on: Come on with me to the wonderful world of SPELL CHECK. It's. Happened. Harassed. Propensity. That's. Vicious. Occasions. Any reasonable person would know that an officer facing a pit bull (no matter what you want to hide your dog species as) would feel threatened. A police officer is sworn to protect the public and, therefore, should he / she feel threatened (as the public would) has, not only the right, but the obligation to eliminate the threat. I am not a police office, but a CPA, and would back the police officer 100% of the time if sitting on a jury. My frank view is that your post seems very one sided! This is my opinion, but I would recommend you make better choices with your dog species in the future and you won't have any problems with your neighbors or the police.

So, the victims had it coming for owning the wrong breed of pet? so a cop can go anywhere they like and shoot any dog they want as long as that dog is a pit bull? And the cop is in the right? so - a cop comes into your yard (or home), pulls a gun and kills your dog, your cat, your bird, or maybe your kid - claiming he felt threatened, and you will back the murdering thug every time. sad to know there are still some good germans ("reasonable person"?- Ha!) left in the world, happy to see the police using deadly force and excessive violence against strangers, who probably have it coming anyway, for owning the wrong type of pet, or wearing the wrong sort of clothes, or speaking the wrong language, or worshiping the wrong god ...

Karen, Sorry to all to hear about the loss of the dog! Most important to note and talking points are the fact that Khun should have used other methods of defending himself from the dog ( if it was a threat ) and not to shoot it so many times! They ( deputies ) have a taser gun (electric shock weapon) a metal baton or even pepper spray to use as less than lethal force to defend themselves, so the point to make to the owner of the dog and his or her attorney(s) is to point out the fact that there was defense training options to use in this case! All Riverside County Deputies are trained and re-trained in defense tactics, so this death and illegal shooting was not justified. The legal statement in this incident is "was the shooting justified"? the answer is no, Officer Khun is a clown and a gun happy jackass... to think that in a residental front yard to a home where there was no signs of a human threat and other human targets around, that he would pull his firearm and begin to shoot away at a dog is completly unexceptable!! Inform the owner of the dog to not let this rest! To seek legal council and to press the incident with the Sheriff of Riverside and sue the dog killer Khun. Check to see what animal control officers use to defend themselves in other cities ( not a firearm ) Khun had the opportunity to use other defense methods and did not. Khun jepordized the public safety and private property damage with this shooting and should be removed from duty and taken to court in this matter. Please pass this note on to the owners of the dog and dont listen to the stall tactics or smoozing attitude from the temecula stations captain or area commander they are all the same. This was an unjustified shooting and a death resulted in Khun's actions. Karen wrote: Sept 11 2009 Officer Kuhn has taken it upon himself to invade private property where he had no offical business being, he was not dispatched to the location. Officer Kuhn took it upon himself to open fire with FIVE ROUNDS, three which struck and killed a champion show dog that was not showing any signs of aggression. This was an act of rage and an overkill. The dog was under total control and supervision of her owner. Officer Kuhn's defense will be that he felt his life was in danger, I'm sure. That is his easy way out. TRUTH Is that officer Kuhn is an unstable police officer that murdered a prized show dog which was well socialized with people but more importantly she was a beloved family member. Where is the media in a situation such as this, a Pit Bull Attack.. Media frenzy. Where is it?

WAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAA All this for a stupid dog... get over yourselves! The owner is trying to win public opinion but will definitely lose in court! The cop doesnt have to use other means to defend himself, he can use his gun. He did and the dog is dead...big friken deal. There is more support for the cop than people know. The dog was probably the only living thing living at that house that did not have a criminal record!

I'm curious, has anyone asked the owner of the dog when she showed it last? She claims it is a show dog, so how often does she show it? If it a 'Champion', then what show did it win and how long ago was that? Also, I looked her up on the Riverside County Superior Court website and it shows that Staci and her beloved son both have criminal cases pending. I can't help but guess by the nature of the cases (Drugs and theft, go figure) against her son that he has a dug problem. If we all do a little bit of research on the owners of this dog it starts to look like the cops had a reason for being there and Staci appears to be painting a picture of her beloved pet that is just not true. I was shocked when I spoke to Animal Friends of the Valley, they have some very enlightening experience with this family and their vicious dogs. I encourage all of the readers here to call them and ask about documented history of these dogs. They have chased and terrified the neighborhood for a long time. These dogs have even bit Staci's own mother. The police have been there in the recent past due to calls about vicious dogs chasing people who had to hide in the back of trucks for their own safety. These 'family pets' do not have a good reputation. But please, don't believe me, instead you should call them yourself and ask to hear about those dogs, it is all public record. This lady has made several claims, but there is not factual basis for her claims. Where is the vet records? How many wounds did the dog really have? Was it shot in the but, or the face. Those facts could be helpful. After getting some real facts, it is beginning to look like this lady is playing us for her own good. She has purposely left out a bunch of important facts.

What happened to Dakota was unjustifiable! This officer or deputy, it doesn't matter what his title is, he does NOT need to be an officer. He's reckless and a danger to society! Pit Bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, whatever you would like to name them are harmless breeds! I own a pit bull and a rottweiler and they are the most loving dogs! Punish the 2 legged monster on the other end of the leash teaching/training these dogs to be vicious!

Kimberly, you can't be serious. This dog has already shown it will bite people and it has a history of aggression towards people. This officer did the right thing. At no time should any person's dog, regardless of its breed, be allowed to repeatedly bit people and terrorize humans. This incident is not the cop's fault. The owner bears full responsibility for her dogs death because she does not appear to be meeting the needs of these animals. These are energetic and competitive animals by nature. If she is not providing them with regular exercise and providing them with a leadership role, these things will happen. Everyone in this blog should focus their emotion and frustration on the owner for not properly addressing the natural needs of this dog. Staci is the sole reason Dakota is dead. Pure and simple.

If the owners of Dakota are monitoring this forum, they need to bring it to the attention of their attorney. And then the attorney needs to subpoena Topix for posters records. If Officer or Deputy Kuhn is posting here, it could go a long way towards showing his character in court. Something to think about for the dog owners and Officer Kuhn if he's posting here. WILLA the AC woman that has had it out with this dog owner may also be posting here. After reading the notice that they have posted on the AFV site regarding this dog owner and the icidents it seems as they have a vendetta against this owner. For starters the AC officer that "sustained a back injury attemptimg to impound the dog"... How about the truth! That AC officer TRIPPED OVER A BICYCLE when he was leaving the property. Or how about this.. "Claims" of vicious dogs running loose, terrorizing people in the neighborhood belonged to someone down the road! All there are on record are "CLAIMS". No proof of who owned the loose dogs but speculation.
