That's right it is now a large empty muddy stmpy pit in the ground. Boat's still in the remains of rushing water flowing now into the Wisconsin river. The massavie destruction of real estate, possibly lives at this point. And forever changing the history of lake delton and the new channel the rushing waters have carved its way through every news station through out wisconsin. I have seen the destruction. Incedible

I used to drive the Ducks back in 05' and 07' and have given tour talk about that dam 1000 times. What a shame, it was such a huge historical mark in the area. God I hope they didn't have a tour going at that point.

I grew up in Mauston and lived in Portage for awhile. I sure would like to see more pictures of the Lake and the damage. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mary

There's great coverage on www.nbc15.com with video right on the front page. I worked at the Ducks from 1995-2001, and I grew up on that Lake. I don't know what the community is going to do, the only reason that many mom-and-pop hotels could make it was because they had lakefront property and the big hotels did not.

"Off on the left is Dell Creek Dam, one of the prettiest dams you'll ever see. If you have a camera, now would be a great time to take some dam pictures."

Does anyone know where these homes were located?

My guess is that they are the homes on the penninsula located near the Dell Creek Dam and accessed off of Lost Canyon Road.

I have been on the Dell Creek Dam in the winters to gain access to frozen Lake Delton. We have walked to that penninsula that jets out. It was awhile back, but I was surprised to see homes being built so close to the water.

I would imagine that the homes and resorts off Hiawatha Drive were not those that were damaged, since the waters were flowing in the opposite direction.

This is a real shame. We were just out there this last Spring Break and noticed a ballfield built near the Dell Creek Dam. I can only guess that that area is totally destroyed as well.

Does anyone have information?

I would also ask for any news on the Sunset Bay Resort. We have stayed there for the last three years.

We were at the Caribbean Club over the weekend--left Sunday night--and all was okay along there. My friend's Mom went up to the Carribean Club condo last night and said everything "there" is ok--no damage. I can't recall exactly how close CC is to Sunset Bay... hope I'm not giving bad info.

If the Sunset was on lake Dalton you don't want to stay there give them a call and they should refund the money because the lake is totally destroyed no water left in it! Just lots of mud.

I talked to the owner...

Sunset Bay Resort was not damaged. It is open for business. The lake is gone, of course, but the indoor and outdoor pools are still open.

My family was supposed to be there this week. We cancelled upon hearing the news reports.

My dear friend has a home behind the wilderness. They pontoon boats and jet skis which are now sitting in the mud.
We had such good times there, we could watch the tommy bartlett water show from her driveway. How sad. Will miss it so.
