I hope a criminal investigation follows. No one knows what happened except the four men (that she did not know) in that boat. Is she being searched for in the right place? Has the other boat been siezed by the police, also? What drugs were involved? It is knowned that alcohol was used by everyone. Why are none of the "friends", that were there, talking? Why is their "MySpace" sites so empty or VAGUE and guarded of all the events leading up to and after the incident? The police better be checking in on this. My heart goes out to Ashlee and her FAMILY.

Oh, my GOd!!! This is how rumors get started. Ashllee was NOT on the boat with 4 men she did not know. She was on the boat with 2 other girls and 2 other guys all of whom she was friends with and all who talked to Sheriff officers and her family extensivley. If you don't know what you are talking about..Keep you lips zipped and your fingers off the keyboard.

If there was alcohol involved to the point that it was a contributing factor to Ashlee being lost or if it was a major reason that the occupants were not able to retrieve her then there should be an in depth investigation. Of course the same would apply if it drugs were involved.

The rumors and/or "foolish remarks" should not be stifled because almost always one of the rumors and/or "foolish remarks" is really the truth. The police would also investigate every rumor and/or "foolish remark". I think that the people who where involved should volunteer to take lie detection tests. It shouldn’t be a problem if they are telling the truth. Those who have nothing to hide, hide nothing. Ashlee was a strong swimmer. She grew up swimming, skiing, boating, among other water activities. She was also on the swim team plus it was a full moon that night.

All I know is that the California law states
INTOXICATED BOAT OPERATION
Alcohol is a factor in 24 percent of all fatal motorboat accidents in California.
State law specifies that:
1. No person shall operate any vessel, water skis or similar device while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs. No person who is addicted to any drug shall operate any vessel, water skis or similar device.
2. No person 21 years of age or older shall operate any vessel, water skis or similar device who has .08% or more, by weight, of alcohol in their blood. A level of at least .05% but less than .08% may be used with other evidence in determining whether the person was under the influence of alcohol. A person under 21 years of age or older who has been arrested for operating a mechanically propelled vessel "under the influence" may be requested to submit to a chemical test to determine blood-alcohol content. Refusal may result in increased penalties upon conviction.
A16 person convicted of intoxicated boat operation could receive up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.
3. No person under 21 years of age may operate a vessel, water skis or
similar device who has .01% or more, by weight, of alcohol in their
blood. Penalties may include a fine of up to $250, and participation in an alcohol education or community service program.
4. If you are convicted of operating a vessel while intoxicated, the Department of Motor Vehicles may suspend or revoke your vehicle driver's license. Depending upon the number and type of vehicle and/or vessel violations accumulated, this suspension/revocation could be for up to 5 years, and result in fines of up to $1,000.

If anyone knows the names or "myspace" names of the person's involved I'm sure there are several of us out here who would be very interested in knowing. Anyone know and care to share?

My prayers are with the family. As a mother, I hope she will have news of her daughter soon. The worst feeling is not knowing what happen to a loved one.

I am an old friend of Ashlees' mother. My son and Ashlee were very close to the same age. I think of T&J often and pray for their strenght and strong family bond to hold them all together in the time. People need to think before they speak of something they know nothing about!

I went to highschool and same college (Sierra) as ashlee. I just wanted her family to know that I am praying for you and ashlee's safe return or at least some closure. I can't stop thinking about her, or imagine how hard this must be for you and I am soooooo sorry. I check the internet daily, sometimes twice a day to see if there are any updates on her. I wish there is something I can do...

People are going to say alot of rumors about this tragic accident, but what is that going to solve? NOTHING! Ashlee was on the boat that night with her friends having a good time. No drugs were involved people would like to think that. I don't think Ashlee would be on a boat with her friends who were druggies! Come on people! I'm sure Ashlee knew how to swim, but all that can change if she's so drunk to the point of blacking out. If she fell over she could have came to and not have known up from down and could have swam the wrong direction. People need someone to blame so they take it out on anyone they can. Ashlee was one of the sweetest girls I could have ever known. And I still hope for her safe return. And pray for her family and friends.
