There's a Flying Saucer in Addison that you could probably do well at. It's not a long drive, either.
I haven't tended bar in ages and never at the Saucer. I'm a regular, though, at the Saucer and I've noticed that their turnover is almost nil. I've been going there for more than 6 years and still see a lot of the same people that were there 6 years ago. It seems like they treat their bartenders and waitresses incredibly well. You'll probably if you look for bars in Addison. McKinney's more about the family scene than anything else and true bars are hard to come by. Delaney's on Eldorado in McKinney might work for you, though. They're more of a restaurant than a bar but they've got a bar and it seems to do pretty brisk business. Good luck! |

Exactly what McKinney needs more of....ever given thought to doing something productive? |

Addison is a pretty good drive from McKinney, not something I would want to constantly be doing, you can take the tollway, but it's going to cost you a few bucks a day to commute. Why are you moving to mckinney, why not just move to addison, or somewhere close by. Besides, I would avoid it for now, with all the construction going on at 75, the place is a nightmare.

Yeah we are also going to school. Is that productive enough for you.

Bartending school? |

No. My roommate is working on her associates and Im working on my bachelors. But bar tending seems to work best with our schedules now. So that's what we were interested in doing if we can find a nice place.

Might I ask where you are possibly going to school in collin county for a bachelors. Seriously, there isn't a single 4 year university in collin county as strange and pathetic as that is. I don't really understand why you want to move to mckinney if you are going to college and are interested in an area with plenty of night life to work at. It's about the worst place you could possibly move for those two things.

No one said i was going to school in Collin County. We are moving to McKinney bc my best friend is going to CCCC. And the Apt we found that we liked was in McKinney. We are just trying to get away from the small town but don't want to get to far in the city yet. I don't mind driving into the city to work.

I work in the corporate office of the Flying Saucer.(I handle their point of sale systems and websites) Shoot me your email and I'll see what I can do to hook you up. TechDude@McKinneyConnection.co m Also, check out www.McKinneyConnection.com (yes, I'm plugging my site) |

BJs at Stacy and 75 - how could you go wrong with all the opportunities opening up at that intersection. Also, they are opening a Trinity Hall at the old Bennigans on the 75 McKinney/Allen border which should prove to be popular since the downtown version is very popular and far away! Yes, but seriously, after 20 years in that business (myself) you do eventually tire of going to bed at 4 am and figure you'd like to add more skills to your resume. Take a class at the college in McKinneyto keep you sharp.

Opps, reading some other comments. See if you can get into UTD however, Collin College does have Higher Education programs nearly making it a 4 year college with their partnerships. Maybe try Addison. I think most restaurant/bars close by midnight in Plano up to McKinney - I'm sure I will be corrected!Good luck I'd move to north Dallas

I had someone give me some suggestions Ak's Sports Bar & Grill and McKinney Tavern? Like i said im not from the area so are these places nice?

I'm not sure about those, I would go some place with a bit of corporate backing - something that could invest more into your training, offer insurance, have more structured labor and pay systems and be more recognizable on a resume. Besides all that, you might get tuition reimbursement and have better chances of moving into management to pay your way through school. I thought of another place - Google Fox and Hound- thre's a few around. One is about 12 miles south east of McKinney. Gotta go - working and going to school-this was my diversion tonday.QUOTE who="Moving"]I had someone give me some suggestions Ak's Sports Bar & Grill and McKinney Tavern?
