Does anyone remember what was the name of the restaurant that used to be where the Sloppy Duck Saloon is now? It used to be a favorite stop of ours when we were in Erie, and we can't remember the name of it. It was on the Bayfront.

You're right in the pronunciation of the restaurant but it was spelled "Shakespier's " because it was on the water where boats dock.

When that place was good in was named Martucci's. Great sauce and meatballs back in the day. Name now????probably a cast off Barry Grossman joint. Really have not been there since Martucci's left. Went once for a $20 gourmet Grossman spaghetti dinner which no one liked. Never went back. I think that was named Me Scuzzie or something like that.Again, now I do not know.

I don't think he means that joint, but the one that used to be where the hospital parking ramp is now on 26th street. It was on the north side, good pizza, Italian food, etc. Agree with you about the other joint though. What was it called?

South Erie Pizza - which was great.

The hospital bought it and demolished it to plant three birch trees. Total waste of resources. Then the hospital bought Patsy Rocco's ? place on the NW corner and tore that down too. Saint Vincent likes to tear things down around it and now wonders why the neighborhood is failing.

Yes, Scorched Balls is right, South Erie Pizza was the place. Best Pizza ever made in Erie, then and now. There is no comparison. The subs were also great. I believe it was owned by the Barzano Family? Great people also!!

Yes it was South Erie Pizza. Even back over 25 years ago their pizza was more expensive than anyone now. You needed gold bullion back in 1980 to afford their small size.

You're not me idiot but you are as correct as if you were me. Loved their pizza and subs and they are/were good people. I remember being there when 2 young kids came in an ordered for eat in service.

One complained how expensive stuff was but the other said "yeah, but look where you get to eat it". First class establishment and people.

Oh yeah, and I was in love with Shelly Barzano ever since 2nd grade when I snuck into the cloak room and kissed her coat. Tru story ya'll.

Maybe Mr. in house special? Have a nice day. As little Arnie Swartzenhager said "I'll be Bak." Ha, ha, hE, hE, I am the Great David CrosbEE.
