The County NEEDS this nursing home. We don't need a new community college. What the county doesn't see is alot of these people won't do well in other homes. Many of them can not afford the more elaborate nursing homes. Many of them came to Pleasant Ridge because another nursing home denied them. Pleasant Ridge Manor takes in alot of behavior problematic patients, some that have been released from mental facilities such as Warren State Hospital when they shut down. Pleasant Ridge also has the best staff in the area. They provide excellent care. They also offer rehabilitation. They have a specialized unit for alzheimers patients. If Pleasant Ridge goes under not only will there be a huge loss of jobs but then comes a bunch of headaches trying to find homes for a massive amount of residents. Walk through the halls sometime and ask the residents what they think should happen. Alot of them would hate to be shipped to Erie, they like the quiet and looking out their windows to see woods, gardens, and wildlife. They love the staff like family. If you take and make a drastic change it will affect them terribly. Forget about spending all the counties money on yet another school and put the money where lives are being affected. These residents served in our community their whole lives, we need to take care of our elders first.
