I need more info on Donna. What is her platform? Right now I respect her, because she slowed down an overly expensive project. But when I talk to teachers I am told she has an axe to grind against Shawn Conrad especially. He was part of something or the one that let her brother go. Her brother was a coach as Conrad is.
Do your research on Donna and you will change your mind fast. Anyone who says their dogs can teach better than the schools teachers has no business on the board. She is sending out links to Lou's VA problems to make herself look better and relies on Shelly Davemport to support her, who said she wanted to drive her truck through the Ed center when the board was in it. Couple that with her raving interviews and you have a clear picture of an unintelligent, inarticulate, clueless individual.

Bull shit. I know Donna. She is very concerned and compassionate. When she believes in an issue she dedicates herself to it, sure a little outspoken sometimes but she cares more than most all on that School Board. So stop your talk and try to walk the walk. Go Donna!!!

Do, you are saying she cares more for the well being of the school and community than the people who are sitting on unpaid seats, dedicating their time? Ridiculous.

They just move these people around? How does that solve the problem? Fire Webster. I doubt these people would want thier kids in her class. She probably will be just like Anderson and just move to a new school.
And I just saw Gino write tonight that they never even fired the 2 people that stole the giftcards out of the locker worth $2,100. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?
which two people? What are their names? How does gino know this? Does he have an axe to grind as well?

Millcreek Mom,
The two people were listed in the audit but not their names. They know one spent some gift cards at Borders because the person used his/her Borders reward card & the other person spent the gift cards at Walmart. You may read the audit yourself if you want to be disgusted. I would like to know where the missing $341,000 is. Our tax money just disappeared.

This doesn't take away from what was done to the district with the gift card scam, I agree that this was a complete waste of money and should be restored to the district. But, you do realize that all if this happened in 2007 and before. I don't know if there are any administrators still around from that time. The only board member during that time who is still around is Scutella...and Mancini (who was an administrator at the time). Where was your disgust seven years ago?

His actual sickness? It has been rumored, but not mentioned here as far as I know of.
If you are referring to disclosing medical conditions of employees, that is a federal law:
https://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs8-med.htm
If the board would have even hinted as to why he was out or his condition, the settlement needed to satisfy Golde would have been in the millions.
Which is why even with Koby in their pocket, all three were on TV flapping their gums about not knowing why Golde was out. Koby may have went against the grain, but he is not stupid enough to tell them the actual reason.
who's Koby?

MacGuffin,

I didn't live here 7 years ago so I had no way to be disgusted with this. However, our home is now in Millcreek & our kids are in these schools.
Do you think that the current school board and school administration is handling finances better and don't need our oversight?

Do I think they are handling them better than a system that was found to fraudulently (allegedly) misuse ACCESS funds? Yes. Do I think they don't deserve oversight? No. But, you are arguing about something that was not handled by this board, but us a case that has gone to court. The repercussions of these past actions have begun to show their head now. The unfortunate reality is that because if past action or inaction, the current board is faced with whatever ruling is placed upon the district. The other unfortunate aspect if this us that the people involved that created these problems are no longer in the district.

Yes. The only way for the school district to crawl out of the hole dug by Anderson, Cobert, Millhouse's, et al is to have higher levels of community support to reach some level of stability. But I will disagree that it is unfortunate that they are no longer in the district. We didn't get rid of them a moment too soon, and good riddance.

I meant it is unfortunate that people allowed this to happen and just left the district to deal with it. I was by no means trying to suggest their missing presence was unfortunate.

While I am for being fiscally responsible. That doesn't mean I am in favor of short term spending with long term consequences to the school. I don't want to the school to cut off its nose to spite it's face. One thing that concerns me with this process of the school is this: in the early 2000's, a group similar to NNM existed and eventually came to "power", for lack of a better word, in the school board. Their issue was spending associated with the school. I believe this was right around the time Asbury was being built. The fiscally slim actions and policies they instituted had a negative effect in the district for years. It was under their "fiscally prudent" watch that these shenanigans dealing with the Access and gift card fiasco occurred. Not to mention the rumor if the rampant hiring practices of the district. So my concern is the wrong people completely buying into this NNM movement, getting in this board, and again setting the district years back because of a do called "fiscal responsibility". Lets be honest, this school board has done a pretty good fiscal job outside of some disagreeing with the high school choice. I don't want it to return to the irresponsibility if the past. Looking at the "leaders" of the NNM group, who will probably get a few elected, I am not optimistic of the lurking outcome we may face.

Valid points. The board has created turmoil since that group came in around 2000, and Millhouse is still lurking around insisting that Anderson will win that lawsuit and she did nothing wrong. What kind of fool can say that after the state said she "grossly abused" her job by misspending almost a hundred thousand bucks on gift cards? Who knows what else she mismanaged. The big question now with the current board is not repeating mistakes made under the cover of "fiscal prudence". And don't assume anyone from NNM will be elected. Their bad press and irresponsible behavior will shoot them in the foot with the public. There are four seats up for election, and the only one the reasonable public will not support is Kobylka.

Good luck with that!
It's a good thing the board hires firms to help us out with things like transferring money and when an incorrect move was made.
Us? Topix is your way of communitcating with the public? You guys don't know whether to wipe your asses or wind your watch until its about spending money.

This board is one big mistake.
