The common sense of County Council has disappeared; hence, the Presque Isle Branch will likely disappear also. People who use Presque Isle won't use Fairview; I read at one point where Fairview would replace PI...I don't think so! One of the busiest branches and Council plans to close it. Where's the intelligence in that decision? Let's vote out those who vote to close the Branch.

I agree with you. I use that library and it is always busy. If you don't get to Blasco at the right time you have to walk pretty far when it is cold and windy down there. Also, what is with all the people that sleep in there during the day. Any time you go there you can see at least 8 to 10 people that are sleeping in the back by the windows?

First Liberty Branch was closed. I tried going to Blasco, found it difficult to use. I enjoy the Presque Isle Branch, convenient, things to do in the area to save on gas usage, all in one shopping day. Employees are very helpful. Having a handicap and using a cane makes it so easy to go to West Erie Plaza. Why can't it remain open, say Mon Wed Friday? Alternate Saturdays. Definitely won't drive as far as Fairview. More thought needs to be given to accomodate what the public wants, it is a public library, right? This branch is a keeper!! Thank you.

The PI branch library has been a mainstay of the library for years. It's easily accessible by car, bicycle, and (locally) on foot. It's regularly used by a large readership, and supports a lot of traffic. It should remain open.

On the other hand, the mall branch is accessible only by car, at the expense of wading through traffic that is snarled on Interchange Road and the various commercial access driveways for hours each day. During holidays-- from Thanksgiving thru Christmas-- a person would have to be desperate or long-suffering to go to the mall branch without other business in the area.

This is just more madness from the Stewart-ship of the public library system. Arbitrary decisions poorly executed. I feel sorry for the library staff, some of the most frustrated workers in the county.

By the way, I'm not in Matawan NJ. There's something screwy about this posting mechanism. I'm in Millcreek.

My kids 11 and 8 years old are devestated to hear this. They ask why close 10 months earlier before the other library is built.?? They have used this library for all of their research and book reports.
There are many people that use this branch. We dont want to go the mall or the bayfront. This is in our home district. Keep it open till the other is built.!!! There are always setbacks when there is new construction. When the ribbon cutting is close, then lets make plans to move.. it all takes time i understand.

Why would closing a popular library make sense? An educated public is much more effective in business and communication. As it stands I still feel the libraries are inadequately stocked and more funding, not less, should go to these extremely important institutions. I remember when I was a child, other kids wanted to go out and cause trouble. While I was happy to go to my local library to read and find out the things I wanted to know. Unfortunately this is also where my complaint would start. There are not enough books or staff at any location. As well as the locations being too small to adequately hold all the books, which in turn forces libraries to sell books that could benefit more people through lending.
