I have been watching. Does anyone know anything about this project. Is it on hold or what?

I got a letter all about the project... They are still cleaning up... It said they have recycled 44,000 tons of coal which is enough energy for 4,000 WV homes for a year!

They are supposed to complete the clean up this year and then begin building...

So any updates on this? The site http://www.volcanoislandresort.com/home.html doesn't really give nay info and the property management company American Resort management http://www.americanresortmanagement.com/_uplo... doesn't really give any info. I understand they are cleaning up the land, but where can we actually go for updates on this?

We have a better chance of Fairmont falling in the ocean than a water park coming. People in Fairmont are in a rut and old fashion. Nobody wants to see Fairmont grow because then we would have more people and traffic. It will always be a tiny coal town and Morgantown will always be big brother.

That water park was never going to happen anyway. It was just a nice campaign dream. Will you fall for it all tomorrow also? It got Good ole Joe elected the last time!

Hell Yeah. Marion County water park in Buffalo Creek LOL. Would have been awsome. But I think that this area is too small to have something like that. Not taking anything away from it because I grew up here and I am raising my family here but it is just too good to be true. Could have been another good Union Job. Hopefully something else will come in its place.

I think its a cover atory to allow the company to mine coal in city limits. Think about it. How lobg they been there and all this coal coming outta there but not ONE building supply has been brought in.

Why would they b collecting water when there isnt anything even remotely ressembling a pool or fountain or water slide etc on the property? I know bcause while waiting on my husband..he works at a nearby company..i took a walk up there just looking around. And I'm tellin ya as of last week there was absolutely no construction whatsoever. Just coal truck after coal truck hauling out the days profit.

Sorry for the confusion. I was just "trying" to make a joke about the amount of rain we're been having.

I was so excited when I seen a building getting constructed over there. It's an armory NOT a water park. I guess the ocean is looking closer every day - eventually way may fall in. ha ha ha

It was posted a while back on this board that the project was canned. The EPA says cleanup will finish next year and they will then reevaluate the land and try to find something to do with it.
