This will be the final nail in Elliotts coffin as AD. When you fire a coach isnt the idea to get someone better than the guy you fired. Elliott hires a guy who carried Jimbo Fisher's headphones around he might as well hired Nick Saban's gardener.Elliott failed as a football coach so they make him AD, he has no clue as AD they may promote him to vice president of FSU.

I've been saying for a long time that folks need to take a real good look over that way. The college is in a mess. Oh they keep the place up, but the inside is a real mess. And we are paying for it. In many ways.

Good enough for Jimbo to take with him(for free) but not good enough to be made an assistant of any kind.

What I am laughing about is the fact that everyone has all these insights yet none of you are in the program or have been involved in any of this. If you dont understand that being a G.A. Under coaches is a part of the process and yes GA's are considered coaches and do a substantial amount of coaching then you really have no clue wot what your speaking of. To Go from a WR Coach To a RB Coach To a OC to an HC... is the natural progression. Please don't speak about things you dont know...

A graduate assistant is a person who serves in a support role (assistantship) at a university, usually while completing post-graduate education.[1] The individual typically assists professors with instructional responsibilities as teaching assistants or research assistants, aids coaches with an athletic team, or is employed by other university departments (such as housing or academic advising) in an entry-level capacity.

Rather than receive hourly wages, GAs are often remunerated in the form of a stipend that offsets some or all of their tuition. Assistantships provide much needed experience for graduate students, increasing their future employment options.

For coaches who wish to coach at the collegiate level, many colleges require candidates to have coaching experience as well as a bachelor degree in a sports-related field. No where does it say the natural process is from WR Coach To a RB Coach To a OC to an HC.

And for your information I have been involved in the program for as long as Woody has been alive. And most places will hire a coach with experience and don't consider graduate asst. part of their experience. He was a STUDENT not a coach! I contacted a personal friend who coaches at WVU and guess what they said a GA is NOT considered a Coach in any way, they are considered students.

I am not saying he is right or wrong for the program. I am willing to wait and see what he does before I make any comments against him or for him. I wish him luck and glad they hired someone from Marion County who has roots here.

If you are involved thats awesome and I agree with everything you said. My Point about Progression was about Point of progression as far as coaching positions. It is fairly typical to go from being a position coach to a coordinator to a HC position which is what Woody has done.

My Point was more directed at all of these people who are pointing out Family stuff for the reason he got the job. AND guess what I contacted friends at other D2 Universities and They by all means consider GA's coaches.. and I also contacted friends at NC, Oklahoma and a couple others. They consider Their GA's to be coaches in the Eyes of the players. What their Duties entail depend on the university. This argument of what and isnt considered coaching is Symantics. Maybe they couldnt get the Big Name experienced coach that everyone desires is because the school is next to last on Funding and scholarships for the WVIAC. That is certainly a possibility. If People are unsure if you consider a GA a coach I urge you to check on Coach Shaffi's actual status for the last 3 years... He was technically a GA.

My only other question.. is if people are so concerned about who is hired.... where are all of them during the season? Where are they when the team needs support? Seems to me people like to bitch and cause Drama. I would rather just win some games!

The difference between a coach and GA is only important in NCAA investigations for violations of allowed practice time. Those players were just hangin' out w the GA..
