I've heard rumors, but does anyone have details?

Understand they're looking for property, at least 2 acres with good traffic flow.

Well, if Sheetz is coming to town,

then Fairmont better have their sheet together!

Hope that I can get an application and to work there scrubbing the johns and urinals some day!

Maybe I’m overlooking the obvious, but how will a Sheetz or similar fuel/convenience store save Fairmont?

There isn’t any item sold there that isn’t already available here.

Sheetz isn’t what would be considered an attraction, which would draw tourists and create positive cash flow for the area.

A Sheetz would create potentially 20 low paying part-time jobs with limited to no benefits, management no doubt would be transferred from another location.

Wouldn’t manufacturing jobs or the construction of Civic Center type infrastructure, even a casino make more of a ‘bang for your buck’ impact as far as the effort for the greater good?

What do you leave Marion County to by? I hope it isn’t gasoline & coffee. Anyone ever vacation at a Sheetz resort?

My idea of a thriving city is not JUST touristy stuff or a place to vacation as a person above suggested. The 'bigger' picture is one of say a 'classy' well-lit place to get off the Downtown Fairmont Exit like a "Sheetz".'Consumer' then sees the value of exiting and maybe looks around to opening their own business or wandering on down toward Palative Park and saying..."Wow, I never knew this was here". Those businesses then create a buzz around town and the success spreads towards Fairmont. Right now we are a floundering city with a tax rate indicative of a much more successful city with much lower consumer interaction than say a Whitehall or Morgantown. Not understanding if this is a city leadership issue or what it could be, but it seems that luring in businesses with aggressive tactics to build an environment of success rather than dilapidated buildings would be a better strategy???

They wanted to put the store in Fairview next to the coal mine but they were afraid that the sheetz would hit the fan.

All we have here is more and more litter and roadside trash. Take a good look. No one in his or her right mind would invest anything here. We are enjoying years of neglect and decay. Keep the trash plows operational so folks can get out to the interstate.
