Why is there only two cashiers working.......

I hear ya there. It would seem that most Wal-marts work like that. Even the bigger super Wal-mart stores in new york state do the same. If the place is really packed they will put on a few more cashiers. There is a method to their madness I'm sure.

They don't hire enough people to keep the cost down so they can make a billion more. They have stacks of applications but don't hire anybody. If you are scheduled to work 8 hours you will work more than that all the time.

Squeeze that fruit Walmart. Get every last drop out. After all you are a 'Job Creator'.

The best time to go there is early in the morning when nobody is there. And if you have to go when it is crowded sneak in the gardening department. You can get a close spot and check out pretty quick.

because they really really want that extra 8 bucks an hour they'd have to pay to put an extra cashier on, and they know you will stand there and deal with it....and people wonder why americans are so unhappy...

a better question...what's up with self-check? if I'm doing a cashiers work shouldn't I get their pay deducted from my purchase?

Never had any problems with them. Sure, I don't like to stand in line- but who does? And think of what they bring to the community. If all you have to do for WalMart is stand in line for a reliable supply of fresh food and nice clothes, why are you complaining?

walmart has a reputation for bad customer service. let me say first of all, hats off to each and every employee who works there, because there is no way i could handle the chaos, customer volume, and customer complaints that go on. however, i have NEVER been in a walmart and been offered assistance. ive even purposely gone in and acted like i was confused, and deliberately walked by employees without even so much as a "looking for something in particular?" or "can i help you find something?" this includes all the district managers, corporate managers, etc.(the ones who walk around in ties, carrying price guns) if your job makes you that miserable that it kills you to help someone, you need to find another line of work. no excuse whatsoever for poor customer service skills

Its not that they don't want to hire people, its the fact that NO ONE in fairmont can pass a piss test. The ones who do get hired don't show up for work or want "special hours . Finally. The customer service is so poor because whit runs down hill. The company itself is very very poorly maintained, the store manager is a capitol Bitch and the other assistants don't know there assholes from their elbows. Its a joke really.

Appreciate what you have. I stopped at the Wal-Mart on 19 (Summersvilles) & there was something wrong with everyone in there.

The people who do work there work hard when it's busy. Sadly they won't hire more people or even attempt to over schedule. So then when they get 5 call offs they are out of luck on people. Then they fall short on cashiers and their lines get long.

I always wondered why they bothered investing in 20 some check outs for only a few to be open at a time....why waste money on registers and item belts or whatever those things are called u set ur items on?! The equipment can't be cheap so why waste the money installing them just to be vacant?! As for their security (at any walmart)....they may be obvious but be careful bc they are quick to accuse and cause embarassment just for suspicion.

Whenever I go to Wal-Mart I never have a problem in finding anyone to help me find something I need and there are plenty of cashiers working. Just as Anon said sometimes the lines do get long,as at times people call off, or there are alot more people shopping at that time.

Wal Mart sucks! The management treats the employees like pure crap. They talk a big talk when hiring you and tell you how much they are family oriented but when it comes down to it they mean their family not yours. The reason they dont keep people is because the manager gets bonuses if she keeps the cost down. They give people 4 hours a day, who wants to drive 20-30 minutes for a 4 hour shift. The management is on you everyday for something, never shows any appreciation. They treated us like we were beneath them. Unless of course you were in their click. They would decide who had the holidays off, it didn't go by how many yrs you had in. You know "its who you know not what you know". Certain people were able to purchase the black friday deals others were not.

As for someone's comment about if you dont like it then go some where else. I only go to Wal Mart when I HAVE too and beleive me I have left buggies full of stuff and walked out because they didn't have registers open. I cant understand why they put so many registers in if they weren't going to use them. How about putting in the self check out ones?

Wal Mart is the worse place ever. I have NEVER been able to get help from someone there. They hire smartass kids with attitudes. I asked a guy in lawn and garden where something was and he pointed and said over there if we have any. They use to walk you to the item. This place is a pure joke. And it has to do with management.
