I think Justice is doing the right thing for the Greenbrier. Younger people aren't interested in carriage rides, Croquet, and some of the traditional things that are offered there. There need to be things offered that are geared more toward a younger population. I think he realizes that.

I think that the Greenbrier is a very nice place, but on the other hand they can not compete with the other hotels in america. They should really consider keeping what they have instead of changing it all to get the star back. They have a gold mine with the asthetic appeal of the hotel they should use that to make more money and to get people to return, not build something else. The addition of the Casino will be nice but they need to consider what the long term effect is going to be and if the investment will pay for itself or will it be a total loss. The younger generation that comes to the hotel does want something new to do the activities that they have at the hotel are not geared correctly for the demographic they serve. I am sorry but i do not want to have to go to dinner in a damn suit. i dont want to have to pay 500.00 to stay somewhere when i can go to vegas and get a better room for a lot less $. Overall i think that justice has made a very profitable investement but i think instead of chaging what he has he needs to prmote what he has. Worthwile investment but it needs to be handled correctly to make the most of what he spent so much on or it will be a waste of time and money.

I agree that there needs to be some more updated activities, however keeping the old faithful activities should never be lost. |

1 Now I guess the question is whether Big Jim Justice will fly in prostitutes from Memphis, New York or D.C. to spread the joy and the STD's or whether he will employ local talent? It would have been better if it had been hit & destroyed by a tornado; at leat it would have gone with it's head high and reputation intact. |

1 Try working fro minimum wage like a lot of people. Also try working jobs where there is no insurance available. When you go to a restuarant do you automatically pay your tip. I personally don't tip unless the service deserved to be tipped. |
why would you ever walk into a restaraunt if you personally don't tip? if you don't have the money you should never go to a sit down restaraunt. waitress/waiters are working for tips they get less than minimum wage on their check. if that is your stance and you insist on not tipping then you should let your server know that when you sit down. p.s. let us know when you do this i wanna b there to see this.

I have worked for min. wage. You are missing the point but im sure u would, u cant spell either

I didnt say I didnt tip. The meaning behind what I said Is why is all this gratuity automatically added. You need to provide the service to get the tip. I do tip my servers and usually quite fairly

1 I'm sure most of the employees there are hard working people, but I also know that some have been babied for far too long. Like one that came to work and actually made a bed with table cloths, etc., and when he was caught sleeping blamed it on a medical condition. He still works there. I think there needs to be a wholesale house cleaning and then pay good wages. |

Not everyone works in that fashion...obviously the hotel has great employees..we've all sacrificied holidays and weekends to keep it going for years. There's always a bad apple in the bunch. The days are long there and it's a place where you have to be caring 24/7 unlike most of the businesses around greenbrier county, where you walk in and feel like you are unwanted. After working at the Greenbrier you have a better understanding of the 'whole' hospitality thing. Gratiuty is well deserved. Compared to other 5 star resorts..our pay is not that great. Im glad the new owner stepped in but employee's pay could be better. Try taking a pay cut and see how you like it.

1 Simple, If you dont like the way he runs "His" property Quit and find a new job. Mabe you are to spoiled from being pampered all these years and running the Greenbrier in to the ground for service that didnt deserve a 18% tip. |

Nicely put!!!!!!!!!! It was not the employees whoe run the place in the ground, IT WAS THE MANAGEMENT Things are not going to change unless they are all gone!!!!!!! |
are you kidding me? clearly you have never been a waitress or probably never even eat in a fine dining restaurant, first of all i am a waitress at the greenbrier, and i work very hard! i didn't take a minimum wage job and one without insurance....i took one with automatic gratuity and with insurance! try taking a job and than getting everything taken from you?! of course you don't have automatic gratuity at your basic local restaurant, its not fine dining?! our work is hard, you wouldn't know unless you have done it! so don't state your opinion until you have walked in someone else's shoes! |
it was the management who ran it in the ground. they would spend millions of dollars on something that was not five star standard and then the next year go tear it up because it did not meet the standard, the standard they new was in place.
